Whatever is weldable will do. 4-5mm thickness...

mild, 5mm tis what we use down this way, takes a lot of grinding to do them tho :)

When do you need them? Pre-cut 3sgte MK1.5 mounts will be available in the very very near future...

I used 3mm mild steel. It stood up really well even after the car was crashed head on [:(

get some 5 inch wide by 1.5 metres long, thats plenty, shouldnt be more than 30, thats half a length or so. maybe cheaper still, from a steel supplier. go for 4mm !

I used 6mm, but I do have a gazillion brake horsepower so need it. lol

Adam does talk sence, but you then have the cutting disks and time to add to the equation (and that 5mm stuff seems to eat them). The pre-cut ones, will be more than good enough for the job (tis exactly the same metal used for my V6 mounts) and you arn't the one that gets little bits of metal stuck in their hands :) Oh and I know they are very close to being done ;)

Stainless warps like a mutha-effer when you weld it, which could cause probs, so go for mild steel 4-5 mm and plenty of power on the welder to maximize penetration and therefore strength and longevity. Also stainless is much harder to work, and will wear your tools out more than twice as quick.
