Final stages of stripping my scrap shell - engine out ( 4A-GZE ). Just a few minor things left to remove for spares ( clutch slave cylinder, gearchange cables ) and it'll be time to phone the scrapman. :(

Entire car lowered until the engine was resting on my creeper

Last two engine mount bolts undone ( the two you can undo from above ) and the car lifted again, leaving the engine behind

Its out !

It's ( nearly ) empty

Plan is to drag it up onto the trailer tomorrow, then take to the scrappy asap. Then I can get the red Mk1a one in and start again

Great work Mart, especially on your own. ;)

Considering a similar job myself, to drop out the engine and 'box from our spares car.

Just a shame you were forced to do this after all the work on that car. [:(

All the time I've been working on it, a duff sunroof drain has been filling the chassis member with water - result..

Big hole

That is a nice driveway. I really want another myself. Are the quater windows any thing worth keeping?

If it's not too late is there any chance you could hack out that engine bay side vent bit of body work? Just an inch or two around the vent? I have developed a fetish for welding them into the passenger sides of MK1's you see...

Cheers

Owen.

Bonded in like the windscreen, so a PITA to remove

whats the lip around the boot like? mine has a few *cough* holes *cough* which are only visible when the boot is open.

could be temted to have a chop, bein a perfectionist an all.

thin cheap hack saw blades will get the quarters out or u could usefine piano wire ive found that works on bonded in screens or if u know a wind screen fitter get him to lend u his specialist knife tool about five mins or less for afront screen .

I think its generally OK, apart from above the rear lights where there's a bit of rust - pop round for a look if you want

The rear quarter windows are not really bonded in like the windscreen. They are just stuck on with a mastic type substance. On my scrap car they just pushed out with a bit of gentle persuasion lol
