Quick question, what offset is the offset recommended for an mk1?

I have found some wheels with this 15x5.6 +40 But i have no idea what +40 is?

Would they be good for an mk1 and not effect the handling at all?

Just curious for :)

15x5.6? That sounds like a right skinny little wheel?

offset is worked out fron the centreline of the wheel. If you look at a wheel side on, offset is taken from the middle of the wheel. So an offsett of 0 means that the wheels mating face is exactly equal in distance from front face and rear face. and offset of 40 is 40mm towards the outside (IIRC) In this case the wheel will sit furter towards the car, as the mating face of the wheel is closer to the outside of the car.

I think from memory that the mk1 is 32 or 35mm, so a spacer here and there should get those wheels on without fouling, although i doubt 5.6" wheels are ever likely to foul!

Anyone out there feel free to correct me, as im still morning groggy and do not claim the above to be gospel!

Ahh thanks, They were cheapo wheels ($250aud) but if they are that thin then no point really.
I was just learning really and thinking about stocking up on a few things :)

the AW11 is ET39 as standard, so ET40 will be absolutely fine

and id think they are 15x6.5 and that 5.6 is a typing error. youd never get a wheel that was 5.6" wide, they are almost always in 0.5" increments

if you like them and theyre cheap then might as well go for it. they should fit fine so long as they are 4x100 PCD and 54.1mm centre bore

It says this about them but it does turn out to be 6.5 wide :)(looking at its title

They are a multistud pattern 4x100 and what looks to be 4x114.3.

Here are where they come from

they look good. make sure you get the wheel nuts with them as they are probably tapered.
