Is there any year 3VZFE or 1MZFE i cant use for a MR2 swap? My gen 3 has died and im now looking into getting a V6 underway.

Ive found a complete 1999 camry (crashed) with 100,000kms 1MZFE for $1950. dose this price sound right? i can probably get it down if i tell him i dont want the pannels, seats and other junk.

Thanks,
Wob

I don't think the 3VZ-E was available in the camry in aus ( but I could be wrong) (It was in the four runner though) As far as I know they went straight from the 2.5lt engine to the 3.0lt 3VZ-FE. We also had the 3VZ-FE for longer than the uk did (up to 1996.5 i think)

Just coming back to this topic, ive found a full Camry but its 1999 1MZFE how hard will this be to do, ive head its hard casue of the imbolizer system. he quoted me $2100 for whole car, less if i have a list o what i need. I wish i had my camera i could have shown you pics.

U can use the later 1MZFE but the ECU is a pain because it's OBD2 apparantly.

So if u get yourself an aftermarket ECU then you're fine. Plus you'll get the best out of the engine aswell.

What would be the easyest Aftermarket ECU to use with a 1MZFE? Google has been no help at all, i was thinking a 2nd hand Gready emanage or something

Think the cheapest one we know that works is a Link G3.

Other options are MegaSquirt if you're on a budget.

Or the Hydra if you're after a better specced one.

Link G3 XLEM - and they're close to you in NZ!
Hydra will happily do it too.
MoTeC M600 - the benchmark ECU, but you pay for it, Australian company, if you're feeling patriotic
Autotronic SM8 - another good midfielder.

Usual advice is to find out what your mapper is comfortable with and move on from there.

Yep. Get a local mapper, or one you trust - find out which brand he prefers to use or has the most experience of, and then choose your ECU from that.
