Finally, my car is boosting and working properly... it boosts up fast instead of crawling up, even at only 12 or so psi... it idles far nicer, revs freely and clealy and doesn't splutter and hesitate when cold...

The problem??

Dizzy timing...!!

It was out - as I tuned it to the right setting I could literally hear the engine purring in a much happier way!!

So a quick lesson to all - check your timing carefully!!! lol

Glad you got it sorted, you were hacked off about the exhaust/turbo blowing on saturday.

Yeah - i'll be making some quality videos - although I need to get a second camara so I can have one on the dash and record simultaneously... then I can subset the dash footage in the corner of the main screen like on those professional videos lol

Oit - don't turn my thread into a Corrie Ballet fest???

Help me Jeebus

It was due to the inlet cam being out a notch Paul... so getting the cam timing is just as imperative for good running!!

It's great, because it doesn't smell of petrol anymore too - so if anyone gets a strong smell of petrol, then perhaps give the timing a check too!! You never know...

I can't get over how much better this is than before... so thanks to the guys who took me out in there 1.5's at JAE bcos it made me realise that mine just wasn't right (despite feeling pretty fast) - so for those still testing, if you think that it's not running fast enough (I remember Megatron saying it) then it's not running right...!!

Agreed, once these things are on boost, you do know about it!!!

Not a good idea boosting it in the wet though eh Ash!!

Sponge Bob

Tell me about it Si... that little roller-coaster ride was fun!! lol

I had it go out on my yesterday on the wet actually - it was 2nd gear, but only 3k revs or so??? Veered heavy to the left, so my geometry needs some serious work!!!

As do those rear wheel/tyres ;)

Glad your getting there matey - Sorted that gasket?

Sponge Bob
27-07-2007, 12:38
Gaskets coming Jiffster - but i'm tempted to find a CT30b first seen as i'm going to have to remove things...!!

I'm still in the process of deciding on tyres... 15" alloys, running 195s up front... what should I get on the rear - 205s, 215s?

Jiff Lemon
27-07-2007, 12:56
195/50 a539's..... You know that means fun! and at £25 each, it's almost disposable fun!

OlberJ
27-07-2007, 13:08
What? Where do you get them from Jiffster?

Are those your cut slicks?

Jiff Lemon
27-07-2007, 13:15
No no no no no, the cut slicks are toyo R888's.

A539's from blackcircles.com but you'll have to be quick to get em.

Sponge Bob

Shouldn't I run wider on the rear to held reduce oversteer & increase traction?

OlberJ
27-07-2007, 13:58
What are the tyres like Jiff? Are they good kwality?

Might be worth £100.

Jiff Lemon
27-07-2007, 16:48
your kidding me? You've not heard about Yokohama A539s?

Don't think - Buy before they've gone

Steer from the rear old chap..... rotflmao

Time will tell but I think 195's will cope for a while - Need to get my alignment all sorted before I start making decisions on tyres, so a £25 yoko will do for now.

Sponge Bob
27-07-2007, 17:23
Sorry Ollie mate... you obviously scared me into thinking you had another name!!! lol

Olie - the A539's are good... got them on the front and the tread pattern certainly looks like it will do a good job... I may hoist some on the back too, so will report back if so!

The 539s are good tyres. The Mr2 challange racers used to use them.

Very nice in the dry. Not as bad as the old 520's in the wet but still scary is my honest opinion. (And that's only with an SC, wouldn't want them on a 1.5 road car to be honest, but a track car? Yoko's for £125 hell yes!)

Cheers,

Owen.
