ST165 gt-s to AW11

Hello people . New to the MR2 but not to the toyota family :driving: . I recently purchased a aw11 with rod knock, and have one of two options. Swap a 3SGE from a 88 celica or replace the 4AGE. Now my question is, would a 4A from a corolla GT-S (RWD) fit the aw11 (FWD) block set up?
Now onto the 3s swap, the mr2 is automatic, the celica is manual. How is the shift linkage set up in a situation like that? Would it be a worth while swap?Even if its just to leave the option of going turbo or swapping the 1mz later on down the road. any help is greatly appreciated

hey mate,

the celica youre referring to is not a ST165 by the sounds. more likely an ST162. i dont think it would be worth the bother for a gen1 3SGE. may as well do the 4A and do your 1MZ later, tho if you do the 3SGE, you can later do a 3SGTE
