Custom Tool That Didn`t Work:)

Ok, so i was to reassemble the head and tried a certain thing to get those locks onto the valves. I decided i needed a special tool for it. So here`s what i did.

So i took a peice form my old toolbox that fitted nicely:

Split it:

Drilled hole, made a bracket to attach:

Here`s the final one with a plate for me to put my weight on.

It seemed perfect at once, but that went away fast. You need it to stay steady to do this. It`s almost impossible to but those small suckers in there holding it steady at the same time. So i need a complete shroud to hold it down.

Nah, i`ll get the toyotool instead. The idea was good i think, not Adamh or Paul good but still good:)

Olie - Yanni (housemate's mad greek rover-nutter friend) Built a tool so he could remove the valve stem oil seals with the head attached...

I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to do, but are you after a tool that compresses the valve spring and gives access to bits above?

He's still got his tool (oo-er) and never uses it (dry spell) but i'm sure if you want to give it a try he'll let you!

I'll try and get pics after the weekend (will be away from my pc until then).

Mill, yes. To compress the springs to put those locks in there. Not to worry, the ToyoTool (http://toyotool.com/VMT6%20Buy.htm) is on its way as we speak. It`s highly recomended all around so i figured i just get one. Doing brakes till it gets here:)

Thx for the offer though. :)

shorty am now confused as to what you mean, are you looking to remove and replace valve stem oil seals or replace the valve springs as replacing them is just the reverse of removing them and your clamp type tool you used to remove them will do the samein reverse and allow spring to be compressed to put the collets back in then release presure so valve spring then sits against them locking it all in place!

Sorry if I have misread what your trying to do?

Well, when i took those collets (valves spring retainers) locks on the valves, i used something from my toolkit to just press it down and they popped out. It`s impossible to do the it the other way without keeping it steady. I didn`t use the clamp i bought as it doesn`t fit so i couldn`t lock it. Thats why i thought this would work.

ah i see now sorry geezer thought you had succesfully got the valve tool working! Many apologies.
