I haven't purchased from them yet so i can't vouch for their service but i was looking into it. Rota's seem pretty well regarded for a not so priccy wheel, especially over on the mr2oc boards. Fancied getting myself some black 15" GT3s with a polished lip. 8)

i can get most of those here in the US for less than they want... and in more color variety too. the GT3 is on ebay quite a bit for around 500 usd. i'm not sure how bidding on something from out of country would work though.

and what is VAT?

VAT = Value added tax. A tax of 17.5% added to all bought items in the United Kingdom thanks to our Government. Not sure exactly how it works for items purchased abroad??

If you import goods from abroad you are are legally obliged to pay the VAT if the value of the goods are over ?18 (non-gifts), or ?30 (gift items). Toys, childrens clothing, books and 'repair parts' are subject to different levels. No, alloy wheels aren't 'repair parts'

It's very hit and miss whether you pay it or not, as the courier/delivery company will pay it for you if you are charged, and then you get stung with extra fees because they paid it on your behalf. It can suddenly make what was a cheap cd/dvd/game/jumper/gadget seem very expensive.... price of goods + postage + VAT + import duty (and VAT on top of that!).

Seriously, I think they decide which parcels to charge by randomly picking them off a conveyor as they go past. There's no way they can get them all - but do you take the risk of getting stung, or, alternatively, getting a once in a lifetime bargain?
