Hi folks,
I think i have air trapped in my coolant syatem, i know it doesn;t have any leaks and i think it's just that it was left there when i did the swap. My question is whats the best way to get the air out without refilling/draining the coolant.

Can`t you bleed it for air?

You attach a bit of clear pipe to the heater valve in the frunk and on to the the rad valve. Attach them to the bonnet upright with a little tape. then open the 2 valves (making sure the heater is set to hot). remove the water filler cap in the engine bay and you should see the water in the 2 pipes level out and release the trapped air.

At least thats the theory.

ok, so it's a repeat of the filling procedure, will give it another go as it's driving me nuts, any tips on what to do if the water doesn't level out??

i wouldnt say this was to do with hunting though? check for error codes, check for air leaks on hoses and around manifold, check bov isnt leaking or any IC piping, spray places with wd40 to locate air leaks...

Im just waiting for owen to say hunting is illegal in the uk....... :woods:

ok....will try that option first, might be the cold pipi from the i/c me thinks, onlyu tends to it once warm though.....does this mean owt?

If you still have the problem, double check all of the manifold connections. My car was hunting at idle and I'd blown a bung off one of the unused manifold connections.

ok folks this iws beginning to annoy me greatly, have bled the coolant, have checked the hose and error codes and they all seem fine, had a look around the manifolds and can't find a prob there either!

I'm stuck!

can't be the afm as i replaced that already off a working car......it's got me stumped, only other symptom is that it is idling at 1800rpm, could it be the idle control switch is buggured??

Hooray:jump: :jump: all fixed now, turned out to be a knackered idle control swith, just swapped it and now instad of idling at 1800rpm it settles nicely at 8-900rpm.

thankgod....it was driving me nuts!¬!!:freak3:

where is that located?
is that the one on the throttle body that clicks when you turn the throttle butterfly?
Good work anyway!

yep, its on the bottom of the TB, it's the gray multiplug, the unit itself is just a small rotating valve thing(technical words i know!!)
