is there an analogue pressure sender on the 3sgte, is there an analogue temperature semnder? if so.. would be right handy if they gave either 0-10v or 0-20ma outputs from the car 12vdc supply... anyone know? how about the 3 bar map sensor.. analogue? or are they all classified as digital I.e; on/off.
mk2 engine bay temp probe, digital?.

also theres a probe attatched to the bottom end of the catalyst (old). I don't think I need this right.. what is it?

ad,the oil pressure sender on a 3s-gte is an on/off switch either earthing or not earthing to the block for the idiot light on a mk2 dash. The mk1 oil pressure sender is a varied resistor that controls the amount of earth its signal wire sees to the block.

The mk1 and mk2 water temp sender work exactly the same, controlled varied resistance to earth.

The probe on the cat is a cat temp probe, its not needed and ive no idea how it functions anyway,id guess voltage in signal out given its got two wires.

cheers fella, if anyone knows about the map sensor signal greatly appreciated.. its got to be analogue.. surely..

yep analogue, though i'm pretty sure they're non-linear i.e zero isn't zero bar so you might wanna check up on that :shades:

Think the cat temp is basic on/off switch. On = Dead cat, light on dash.

On = Dead cat, light on dash.

cool so if you run over a cat and its dead the dashboard lets you know, cool, means you dont have to reverse back over the fecker to make sure I guess, therefore saving fuel so good for the planet ! Now I know why cat sensors are good for the planet !

pmsl!.

ok goldy you say non linear as in not a straight line or a straight line offset from zero axis?. sure I can accommodate with zero offset and gain thru a prog control. anyone know what standard manifold abs pressure sense is rated upto @ gauge pressure.. or absoloute even.

I think its a staight line with an offset, but i'm not sure as I can't remember, theres deffo some offset on them but i can't remember if its linear or not. I looked at it all about a year ago now.... and my brain aint what it used to be :booz:

paul thats ace mate .. am i to understand the afm also gives a temp signal of intake air into the ecu? if so i can possibly utilise that THA - E2 as a make-shift resistance thermo. wether or not its used to gauge temp or check afm function.. it half says to me that @ 'x' temp the resistance should be X ohmys.. so could quite possibly use it ...

goldy that the boyo!.. its going to give a 0-5v output which is excellent and can see that 2 & 3 bar is measured 'gauge' when positive.. so can see i needs the 3 bar sensor for tinkering. do you know the model sensors that were used?

Both GM / Chrysler 2 and 3 bar map sensors. I'm pretty sure they're all the same standard for map sensors (apart from the pressure ranges) They're probably all made by bosch anyways. varies 0.5 - 4.9 volts

twill do me matey better than forking out 55+ for a specialist item. now just to find :-)

yep the afm has an intake air temp sensor built in,all you got to watch is that by hanging stuff off these circuits is that you dont affect the signal to ecu by accident.
