Ive got aan opportunity to get my hands on a 3.5 litre V12 quad turbo engine from a bugatti EB110 for only ?1000!! Whats the chance of transplanting to a Mk1?? Gotta be worth a try. Anyone think its possible? Would be the fastest Mk1 in the world!!

Yeah kosher, longitudinal mounted, gearbox on the back similar to a ferrari.
Not a big engine, even though its a V12,only 3.5litre so probably about same size as lexus V8.

Goddamn... if I had the chance of grabbing that I'd make it fit somehow, even if it meant ditching the quads and going for larger twins just to save space.

Jeez ... get it, do it.

Longitudinal - might have to stretch the chassis and engine bay a bit though - unless you can persuade a transverse transaxle to fit it, don't know where you'd find one the right size and able to handle the power & torque though.

Er, what power is that anyway?

600 bhp +!!! Would be a bit nippy me thinks!

In the bugatti its capable of 219mph and 0-30 in 3.2 seconds. Its prob heavier than a mk1 too!!!

I think Clarkson said of this car:
"It's on a constant mission to headbut the horzion"

Sounds good to me!!

might be easier in a 205 shell than a 185 though Tony ! ;)

You'd end up with it FWD though unless you could use another gearbox.
Don't suppose there are bellhousing adaptors off the shelf ... but I guess something could be custom made.

you would def need to widen the rear end like im having to do,moving strut towers is not fun! :) but why not just extend the car length wise, stick the motor inline on an audi box or summat and jobs done...it sure would be mental though,do it do it do it!!! you'll be famous even if you fail! :)

would make a monster of a go-kart even f it doesn't fit in the mk1! ;)

Isnt that a VW based engine? Sounds like a recipe for problems. The thing would stall on the side of the road trying to figure out what position your sun roof is in.

THAT engine for a grand ! I'd buy it just on general principal...even if I it meant the only place I could fit it was in my living room, hehe. Go on, get the shoehorn out :)

Here's a glimmer of hope for you

When I was a stoopid yoof (Cos I'm dead old and wise at 24!) I used to read the publication Max Power (mmm tits!) and I remember there being a writer that had put the EB110 engine into his ................... UNO TURBO!

I poop you not!

So if they can do it you can do it .... unless your to poof!

Coukd you get a shell of an Atom or a Cattenham and try put it in one of those, It could be easyer?

Imagine the power to weight ratio of that

is it midmounted? if so and the gearbox is with it do it for a grand its well cheap

A grand though, I mean even if you had to go to Quaiffe and ask them to fabricate some durable parts for it - you're still streets ahead with an engine that gives 600bhp out of the factory, and therefore should take 750bhp without too much of a problem.

OMG mate, just do it - remortgage, sell ye kids, the mother in law.... do it and I call first dibbs on a ride when your done (then one in the car ;) haha)

fastest mr2 out there i don't see though, maybe before i am done, too many projects... plus there are a couple of MK2's pushing nearly 900whp...

OlberJ

the standard is about 530ish i think, the SS version is a lighter 600bhp jobby.

standard 4.5sec 0-60. SS is much quicker.

Hmm... can't find any words - just lots of grunty noises at the prospect of a 600+bhp mk1... you'd need caterpillar tracks to get the traction to the road mind!!!

Get a MoTeC M800 running it and it can control the boost and provide launch control. Problem solved ;)

or just put mofo big wheels on the back with even more mofo sticky tyres on it !

Cover the wheels in superglue, that'll do it :)
