Well done Alan - very happy for you!

Now may I respectfully suggest that you...

DON'T DO IT AGAIN!!:naughty:

In order to achieve this, next time Marksman asks if he can take it for a test drive I think you should reply...

NNNNNNOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Seriously though - congratulations

well done al! how does she drive? better/worse/same as before?

lodgeman
10-09-2006, 08:43
well she seems about the same ...... but i have only been out for a short run and i tried to keep it on the rev guage:whistle: oh and i did a sam and forgot to tighten the top susp mounts up:whistle: gonna do the afm and timing thing next after i sort the hesitation thing. just a question ? do i bridge those wires or do i cut and join them? stupid question i know but just wanted to make sure:thumbsup:

Paul Woods
10-09-2006, 08:55
do you mean supplying the P/Y Sp1 wire with 5v alan? yep take the P/Y wire and "T" it into the Blue/Red wire on the TPS plug,it emerges at the ecu end on one of the plugs, just T into that one, dont cut anything.

That will cure the hesitation,oh if your P/W wire on the N1 is connected to the P/Y Sp1 wire (i think it is!) then cut that before joining P/Y to 5v,any probs or if you are unsure give me a ring matey.

Great news Lodge, don't forget the oil!
Look in "V6 mr2 hesitation problem, a fix? " for a pic of the wiring as described by Paul. If you remember you asked me for a pic in that thread but then blew your engine up!! Touch wood, mine is still OK, off to the Mk1club NW area meet today. Wonder if I'll be sent home in disgrace?

Paul Woods

No sorry Paul, guess again. You're looking for a house just about opposite a pub, with a bunch of MR2's in the front driveway...

Good luck.

Owen.

Paul Woods
10-09-2006, 11:18

here's some pics of the latest install:roll: really its only had a tidy up in the engine bay! i am not a great lover of seam sealer so i removed that from the top rail and with some filler and a bit of bad painting it looks a lot better!

changed the oil and filter again today! i originally used some mix of new oil that i had lying around with a new filter, so i drained that and put a new filter and some 5w40 sythetic in and its sounds so much better. oil pressure is slightly lower but runs better. i removed the lower heatshield bolt on the manifold nearest the rear of the car as well as it is quite close to the bulkhead and rubs when accelerating hard. wrapped the exhaust downpipes and fitted a capillary temp switch to turn on the engine bay fan. will post some pics later , but things are looking better!!
