Hello, i wan't to have an better braking system in front of my car. I wan't to stay in 15" wheel. I read post in forum and if i understand i have this 2 choise:
- ST165 twinpot with mk1b disk (i have some black diamond disk installed)
- ST185 Single pot with celica disk (with conversion in 4x100)

I wan't to know what is the best setup, i have good braking for a long time because i pratice trackday and for the moment my setup, mk1b caliper with all thing in black diamond, line - disk - pad, is good but after 20 / 30 mn in use i don't have brake....

Thank's a lot..

i would go for the st185 single pot , it gives you a bigger disc 288mm and go for some decent pads to go with the calipers! can you get these in france?

Another vote for single pot - Bigger brake surface area means more efficient braking.

caliper for mk1 (http://www.target-earth.net/brakes.html?meid=87&POSTNUKESID=01ac83ee9157e51e54c1a9dc0641c31e)

I'm look at this lnk under and i don't find 288mm disk....

I find this in france:
- 2 single pot caliper from st185
- 2 disk black diamond in 277mm
- 4 pad EBC green stuff...

If it's better of double pot, i'm going to buy it.

Thank's for you'r reply :) there is not many mk1 in france... and i don't have answer for my answer...

yes i am sorry its 280 mm not 288mm added an extra 8mm  the st185 is a celica caliper that fits straight onto the mk1 hub, the disc will have to have three holes drilled into it for the correct pcd 4 x 100
this is what they look like with 16" wheels

I find 2 thinks:
1: ST185
- 2 single pot caliper from st185
- 2 disk black diamond in 277mm
- 4 pad EBC green stuff...
350€

2:ST165
- 2 double pot caliper from st165
200€

I'm look at this table:
brake table (http://www.target-earth.net/brakes.html?meid=87&POSTNUKESID=01ac83ee9157e51e54c1a9dc0641c31e)

If you read it, you can see, the st165 2pot pad are biger of st185 1pot. and the Piston Area (mm2), the st165 2pot are better to brake but not good because they are to hot in 5/6 laps ???? What do you think about this?

thank's :)

hi El Loco,

nice to see you found the site. we have spoken on IMOC. i have the ST165 2 pot set up and it is very good but i am thinking of upgrading again. There is a kit you can buy which consists of 4 pot calipers, and the 277mm discs. Keri sells them on here WMS Motorsport. check it out.

have you tuned your engine yet? or are you saving for a turbo conversion? i am torn between the 20v or turbo. i have the 20v in my garage so will probably put this in for a year and then get a turbo.
