This is just to show how I rebuilt my passenger side rear arch/sill - not as a "how to", just an example. It turned out to have been bodged with filler in the past!

BEAR IN MIND: all that showed through the paint before I attacked it were a few rust bubbles! The extent of the missing metal was very dangerous (close to seatbelt mount and suspension mount), note what happened when I tried to remove the mudflap!!!
:eek2:
The car is now a LOT stiffer!!!!!! :driving:

The photos are in my gallery ( http://twobrutal.co.uk/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=77 ), I can't get them to appear here properly though..

It just links to the image even with the [ I M G ] tags etc, for example:

...I have a theory that particles on the surface of a car helps to break up the airflow and reduce drag - it's not that my car doesn't get washed as often as it should honest!!!!

No problem! :-)

Are you fitting a wider kit over the arches, or flaring the existing metal ones? If you're flaring metal I'd do it as one job if I were you, it'll be much easier! The trouble with welded arches like mine is they become VERY stiff - you'll never, ever get them to bend, they'll warp the quarter-panel instead!

Put it this way, I had to use a proper MALLET to get the little kink out of the rear half of the arch!!!! :shifty:

i'd be flaring the existing metal ones, although i wont be doing this work, im shopping it out. im just repairing all i can be froe it go;s out for finishing. im not worried aboutt he arc otself, thats really shagged, just the front lower carne i will do and the rear quarter, i'll leave the rest to them!.
