Need some advice. Stuck betwix a hardplace and some rock things. Do I save up some cash. I'm looking at either upgrading my probe. To do that it would entail; custom made pistons, custom made con rods, maybe looking @ a set of copper head gaskests, injectors( standard supra injectors would do) some kind of after market ecu. Paul recommends mega squirt, it's got to be installed and mapped etc. Has anyone any idea of prices and is it worth doing. Or I would like to have a go @ a v8 install on an old skool celica, a mk1 or this

Are you reading my mind? I was just doing a search to see if I could find one of those but not fastback. I had a 1974 Celica ST as my first car. Thought I'd see if I could find one (GT/ST) for a project. Many happy memories in there as a young lad....

Yeah mate I was reading your'e mind :hehe: but I'm crap at predicting lottery numbers though. Love these cars to death and putting a v8 in them just finishes the job off.

All depends what you want. If it was me i'd probably not spend the money on the probe, what you have at the moment it bloody mint, and you'll be chucking money at it for no return on your investment (money wise). Everyone is always hunting for a bit more power, and you can easily get carried away. I hate to say it but maybe it is time for a new project? Its a hard call though.

you know where i stand on this mate,my jaw dropped further than yours when we clapped that celica last year....old skool jap stuff is just the coolest thing ever.Like you i'll definately build something like this in the future, but maybe datsun 240/260,close call though.

The car you have is mint mate, remember our convo about finding a happy place and sticking with it? if you dont you end up chasing power forever..if you asked me last year id be perfecly happy with a v6....same with you,you would have been overjoyed with a SC on your v6...you have a frighteningly rapid car,but where does it all end mate? JATOS????

Its a tricky one mate, you could get ?10k for your car,buy a minty celica/datsun and spend a few grand on the v8,best of both worlds? who knows, you might be having the same conversation the year after.

Im with you on the celica though, bloody sexual that mate.

Im with Paul on this one, V8 in a old ride is as good as it gets. Did any of you folks see pics of that red, twin turbo, pushrod V8 celica? I think it was in New Zealand:thumbsup:

Yeah your'e right mate I've found my happy place. Prob that celica's sooo sexy it interferes with me my t.v.reception and the toaster. I'm gonna have to find a celica first thats gonna be the hardest part.

To be honest I've lost interest in the whole modding of modern cars thing - don't get me wrong, the mk1.5 is great but it doesn't connect with your heart as much as the old Escort does... or I guess in your case, the original Celicas.

I'd quit throwing money at the mk2; you'll never get it back, and it's only inevitable that others will eventually copy yours.

The Celica on the other hand is now a classic and it will always be something out of the ordinary that people will want to look at if you turn up in it :) ... even more so if it's making wonderful noises from under the bonnet :D

Megatron what dodgy stuff do you have on your "Visit my mk1.5 MR2 Conversion and build gallery!" link?
My company system has blocked it and it's usually pretty laid back!

Works this end, which is surprising... although I can't imagine what your work software is blocking?

Yes mate think your'e right there. Theres not alot I can do to the mr2 now thats not gonna cost a small fortune. Liking the idea more and more of the celica now but still gonna keep the deuce.

My first car was a mk1 escort 1.3 ghia mt. green with a black vinyl roof, cracking car mate wished the hell I still had that.
