Any ever used these arch panels?
http://www.toyota-heaven.de/1106100.htm
Any good?

Look like they wouldn't take too much work to make fit, don't know what they're off though. If they were identified then it may be possible to find them cheaper here. Something like ?18 a side (doesn't sound excessive) plus postage from Germany (which might be).

i've got them sat in my garage at the moment, they look like they will be a good match (arch bit only) also pretty substancial panels if you ask me, i think i payed 50 quid inc postage.

I am sure i have seen some pics on the gallary where someone has welded these in..well in the pic it looks like the arch bit is in the same red type colour anyway.. and i'me sure i have read a few threads over on IMOC where a few peolple have used them with good results.

Thanks - I'll give these a go then. Have you had a try at fitting them at all yet?

Yeah i ordered them direct - all be it over e-mail. The guys English was ok..but saying that mine isn't always that good!!! :puke: hehehe, i think some of the other arch options might be cheaper but this certainl looks like it should need a little less fetteling when their on...i guess time will tell!!!

What about fronts?
Is the rear lip twin skined? I can't remember & if so what about the inner arch?

mk1 corolla 3 door or datsun cherry n12 model 3 door arches are what i use, they have a perfect arch lip on them thats the same as the mk1 lip,if you look closely at the german arch it doesnt have the same outer lip but ive never seen them in person so cant really comment.

The cherry or corolla arches are ?30 a pair, they do need a little slicing and bending around the arch profile but once blended they make a perfect job of it.

[ blue peter mode on ] heres one i made earlier...

looking good ! Paul when you say some cutting and blending dont suppose you could do a pen and ink type drawing over the above to show where you cut and bend them, when you get a second between conversions of course !

very cool, at ?30 a pair I'd say its the way to go, I'd have thought the german ones would cost that by the time they get here.

so how do you actually go about welding new arches in do you lay the arc on top and then weld it on

theres a thread somewhere about arch replacement- if i can find i will post!
but basically you cut 1/2 way down the arch and fit the new trimmed one underneath and tack in small amounts all the way around.

quote paul woods
having replaced 100 plus rears i think im slightly over qualified to answer but here goes!

The easiest way is to cut the arch halfway down its slope or if its rotten there as near to the top of the slope as possible....its far easier to blend in new arches on the flare than to blend in a new arch on the flat bit before the arch starts.

So cut it out,and judging by the pics the inner arch will be screwed as well, remove that as far back as you like.Tack the new arch under the old,not on top, again easier to blend.....do not seam weld, just make a series of spot welds that are very close together=no distortion of the panel. Now make sections that join the inner arch back onto the new arch lip, this is the horrible bit, sparks in your ears welding these but again its not structural so spot weld close together. If you can, weld the inner arch onto the inner edge of the arch lip.Use lots of seam sealer on the inner arch.Grind off the welds on the arch, fill with p45,sand,fill,sand,fill (use 80 grade paper to start).....spray primer over it in between fills when its getting close. Then switch to 320 grade and switch to a high build primer, keep layering up the primer and use water with the 320,this will remove the 80 grade scratches.Use more filler in small skim amounts if required but dont go back to 80's.When you are happy with the arch, and you really cant take enough time over these mate, boring and it does your head in getting it right but take as long as it needs, switch to 800 grade paper and wet flat the whole rear quarter, spray with more high build primer (mipa 4+1 is good stuff if using a proper spray gun).

Im betting you will need to rebuild the area behind the sill triangles on that car,To repair the triangle area at the sill i weld an 8 inch piece of angle iron at the bottom, then attach an inner piece onto the inner sill down onto that.To repair the outer sill i use escort mk3/4 3 door sills (?18 a pair!!!) these fit really well and even come with a section at the rear that will fold and repair the area behind your rear triangle. The trick with the sills is that you must keep refitting the bodykit to make sure you have the right length and that its all going to bolt back up properly and fit right around the arch. The escort sill needs a few inches removing at the front wing too.

If you need more details adam get in touch mate.
