About 30 mns ago, I was on my bed, trying to sleep ; I heard a noise coming from my garage; I got up, and , using my torch light, I saw that my glass roof top had "collapsed, exploded", I don't which word I should use; it doesn't seem that anything has fallen on it from the roof; I have got to investigate tommorow at daylight; have you heard of anything like happen ?

Yeah, seen glass pop before when the frame around it was twisted and put the glass under stress.

it's not a T top as I understand, i think it's called a sun roof ( like a rectangular window ( sorry english is my second language); if one of you want to sell me one it will be greatly appreciated

I ve seen on a site there is apparently different kinds of fixing the sunroof; I just checked on my car, and it's mounted on an aluminium frame with torxx screws, which goes round the hole

In fact mine is apparently an aftermarket one; I mesured the lengh and witdh of the hole: it's 78cm by 43cm therefore 30in by 16.9in. if the glass you have is about that, it should be okay; the only thing I would need would be all the parts that came with the screen, if you still have them

No, mines an original toyota roof.If it's an aftermarket one, you're going to have a struggle. Your best bet is to try and find one either the same size or slightly bigger....

I might ask a car welder to weld a sheet of metal and paint it, since the insurance might pay for it; isit, however, something very diffcult to do for a professionnal ? do we have a thread on that ?

It's me again ; I have 2 questions ? do you think it's possible, for an exprerienced welder, to replace the sun roof by a sheet of metal ( ? if no, is your sunroof complete ( glass and hardware ( everything to fix it on the car ) ?
