Should I have a pipe on here?

Whilst looking in the engine bay came across this pipe that appears should have another pipe coming off it.

Shall go stick my head in the engine bay... looks near the gear linkage?

Might be a water pipe? We sometimes bypass parts of the throttle body heater plumbing and you are left with bits like that.

Stick a bit of rubber pipe on it, blow down it and see where it come out (or doesn't!)

Well had another look & it doesn't actually go anywhere it's about 4" long.
