Tapping 2mm thick aluminium cold pipe?

Hello TB - I thought I'd skip the introduction and jump straight in with a question.

I've got one of those fancy aluminium cold pipes from my SMIC and I want to tap it for a w/m injector. The ally is only 2mm thick so not enough room for the 27tpi thread required. Could I possibly tap the cold side of the IC itself?

edit - been advised that welding on a boss is best - will find someone who can do that.

thanks, just waiting on a quote from a local welder. the first one I approached wanted £75, and that was with me handling delivery/collection. silly.
