The best is at the end (I would say that because its my 3VZ-FE V6 powered machine, with muffler bypass/cut-out valve 3/4 open). I might have even eclipsed Foxxy Stoat on this one ;-)

Nut tingling, due to the rigid Urethane engine mounts and near solid exhaust fixing.

How do you operate the valves Bri? Are they manual or auto switched with a solenoid.

I'll check out the vid when at home.

Yeah, distinctively different sound that 3VZ, sounds old school in a really good way ; )

I particularly like the link I accidentally surfed onto at the end -

Cool vid, I'd also like to know how this is done.

The electronically operated valve came complete with a little stainless Y piece branch, a flange and stubby side pipe and flick switch for the dash + wiring, I have the take off branch welded to my stainless EMS Powered Y/B pipes.

You can buy the cable operated ones cheaper, like this one for USD $99, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200903406428?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

but wait a minute, looks like there are some deals on the electric ones now, from CFN products who sell all the nitrous kits http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-1-2-Electric-Exhaust-DUMPS-Cut-out-billet-Cutouts-new-2-5-/200841969348?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2ec31d3ec4

Sounds fantastic Bri, just a little idea, have you thought about operating the valves with the Acis VSV signal?

Good shout Paul, I was thinking that they could be controlled electronically but didn't consider the ACIS VSV.

The F355 screamer valve opens that way, there's a little flying saucer like thingy, with vacuum hose attached. Actually I would love that to work like that, ie open when the revs increase. Having the valve open when the revs are low sounds quite naff.

Paul, let me know if you fund a source for valves like that (ie not Ferrari ones)- these V6's sound so fantastic when the exhaust gases bypass the rear box. Am surprised you didn't try this aready

In a word nobody has ever thought of doing it Bri, it does sound good though.

So is that a 355 backbox?

These are diaphragm valves Bri that open when the correct pressure hits the internal diaphargm disk and forces the valve open. Can also be electronically operated with a sensor that opens at the valve correct pressure signal from the controlling device.

In this instance Paul is suggesting using the signal from the ACIS VSV.

These guys do the full kit, not cheap and I am wondering how the feck you could incorporate this into a 3VZ-FE exhaust as there's not much room there.

I had a discussion with Peebs about it last year at JAE and some time after we exchanged PMs, Paul, that's why I'm reasonably well clued up on it.

To my mind, seeing Ferrais all day long around where I live a custom exhaust doesn't sound quite right but with the by-pass valves on, it is so much more like the real thing and even has a super car sound of it's own when it's not trying to be a 'sound alike' if you get my meaning.

I wonder what the 2gr would sound like with one fitted.

How are you keeping.
All these gadgets are so tempting, money just keeps flowing out of the wallet, is there no end! lol

No, its not the Larini backbox, that's still under a dust cover in the garage. The exhaust gases bypass the single can MR2 backbox, and just emit via a stubby bit, when I open the butterfly valve

I'm good Kal, thanks. Know what you mean about the money pit. Had such a blast this summer, actually I'm spending quite a few hours on my campervan, getting it back to its former gory, then storing for next summer. I guess you've finished your project now then? I've been thinking about whats' the ultimate project, eg if I decide to go the hole hog (dream car stuff)

Plenty on eBay, eg cable control: http://www.ebay.com/itm/200903406428?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

..or electric (this is very similar to the one I purchased from the US) http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-1-2-inch-2-5-inch-Electric-Exhaust-DUMPS-Cut-out-pick-up-25hp-/251325929161?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a843156c9&vxp=mtr

There are a few up for just $99

Not sure if you can make it out from the pic, V6 Y pipe joins to the right of the pic, then goes over the crossmember, I had the stainless Y branch that came with the bypass kit, welded to the stainless exhaust as it comes over that crossmember. The original pipe curves away from the camera in this pic. The Valve flange that bolts to the stubby can be seen here, opposite the silencer can:

Haha, well I recently learned that quite a few of the awesome sounding cars use these, I thought it was just the supercar engines (have heard a few on some juicy 911's)- why not do it properly and try the vacuum pipe actuated route, like the F355's have:
