So my car is at JEM having it's calipers replaced with some blingy red remanufacturer equivalents and metal braided hoses.

As they were taking to original hoses off, 3 of the 4 hard pipe end points in the arches disintegrated and require replacement and/or repair.

Is this common ? I'm talking about the rigid steel pipes between the master cylinder and the arch, not the flexible hosing to the calipers...

Any easy solutions ? JEM are saying a pipe repair is actually easier than a replacement....

I used to get a kit for the triumphs of the classic guys coppermec I think it was called, bendy and easy to replace they may even be able to make you a set ?

It's copper pipe and joining onto the existing will be a faster easier solution than putting a full new line in it can be just as good, but some people say once the pipe starts going it will need fully replacing at some point, all depends do you want the car back early or pay a huge bill to replace all the hard lines?

They seem to have found steel lines (not copper), and are also saying a repair is as good as and easier than a replace.
Don't mind the cost, this isn't something you'd want to be skimping on.

I think it's happened because the are in the arch space - anything inboard of the arches isn't going to suffer the weather as much.

I was also amused when they said they'd found an ABS unit. News to me !!

FWIW I have just bought Goodridge braided hoses for the MK1.5ToBe http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390516477863?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 also http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350656250803?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 this morning to replace all the brake lines. I personally wouldn't have the steel ones repaired as they are only going to rust in another place in the future.

Give KarlBristol a shout, Gavin. I know he had a complete spare set as he bought the flaring tools and materials for himself and was able to make another.

They may still be available.

The flexible hoses are these:

It was still on the OEM hoses, figured new ones wouldn't hurt.
