I was driving a long find no problems. Then I thought lets open this b#ch up and see what happens. Well let me tell you I see why this guy hit a rail in the past. Throttle stuck open *****nutz. I was able to cut the engine but man.... WTF? I never had that happen before and advise?

Disconnect the cable from the throttle body and test.

Might be frayed inside somewhere.

I had a similar occurance with my v6 but in my case the mat had gotten wedged under the loud pedal, almost gave me a heart attack tho..lol

happened on my original mk1 with a standard engine, no tampering. i just dipped the clutch and pulled in.
if the cable is dry and frays and wants to catch , it will. put a few drops of oil down the throttle cable sheathing while holding it up high past the roof, is what i did (drowned the bastid).

this happened to me with KYT. i hadnt mounted the armature correctly so when it roatated on the inlet body the return springs popped over and left the throttle open, i was overtaking something at the time.
