Any tips from you guys, in respect of the best kits out there that are not too pricey. I've stumbled on warm air v cold air kits, Ram air and Weapon R and a whole load of hype.

At $229, this seems excessive for a bit of pipe and a vacuum cleaner filter ;-)

As far as i know there is NOT any kit that gives a bhp boost on the 3vz.. In some cases they gain some, but when its a hot day they loose some.. I might be mistaken but i have yet to see a dyno chart with and without a open air filter that resembles some positive difference. That does not mean you shouldn't get one though :) They do add a nice sound which makes it worth it to me!

Pat and I have fitted AFM adapters and big fat k&n type filters. They work and sound awesome. You do need to make sure that the AFM adapter doesn't restrict airflow - the ones we bought had a tiny square in the middle that needed opening out a bit.

On Pats car we also disconnected the hot air breathers on both cam covers and plugged the T on the intake pipe from the rear bank.

I do have some metal pipework if you want to have a play?

Chris.

I don;t think that link works p5ycho.

I bought this in the end, looks okay, although there seems to be some small gaps around the hexagonal entry for the polished alloy adaptor to the K&n filter, which I can fix: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3984Q2em1439Q2el2649QQ itemZ230594983062QQsspagenameZSTRKQ3aMEWNXQ3aIT

That looks very similar to the one I have that Paul fits at Woodsport. Incidentally, he says that they don't make much difference to bhp - it's a matter of sound. That's a hell of a lot of money for the one on sychos link - £225 ish !!

I would have to be absolutely off my rocker to spend that much on an induction kit.. admittedly I paid about 60 ish quid for this one of ebay.. was happy with the price as it was almost new and comes with its own heatsheid so I dont need to make a box around it to preven heatsoak from the engine and the best thing is it sounds like darth vader on engine idle and gives of a howl on full chat,,,
