Look what i just bought....

http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/images/recovered/2011/05/166.jpg

One wide arched Mk1 rally/grasstrack car, every panel is fibreglass, even the doors, i also got the moulds for every panel thrown in! So expect to see some wide arch panels and fibreglass bonnets/doors/bootlid etc available soon.

This car is powered by a Mk2 2.0ltr NA on twin 45's....

http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/images/recovered/2011/05/167.jpg

Fully caged from front to rear, stiffened throughout and stripped out, it's also running on coilovers.

I've no idea what to do with it in the short term, might have some fun with it or sell it on.

Interesting though ay!

get the v8 and red mk1 finished and have this as your winter project as an uber lite weight striped out rally track car.

so which part of it is toyota? :)

do you have some scales to weigh the car? we could use some serious weight reduction on our racing MKI :)

Haha! I know the feeling, I started on your speedo converter thing over the easter break but got waylaid by spending 7 days plastering and decorating our bedroom! Got some time on the car this week but I need to find some time during the week to solder up your little box of tricks!

seeing as though its been caged and stiffened judging by the pics its basically a fg body on a spaceframe..ive been waiting to see one of those for 20 years!

She arrived today, it has had some excellent fabrication work carried out, especially to the rollcage and strengtheners, it's a real built for purpose car!

We gave it a run around the estate and it's got a limited slip diff for definate, the twin 45's sound amazing on full chat!

i'm not thrilled about the location of the fuel tank. it seems exposed to gravel/rocks but otherwise it looks like a seriously lightweight contender. i'd love to see the weight on this thing.

they even removed one of wiper arms!

Also no glass in the car, all Perspex , even the windscreen

do we wanna run a sweep on how far under orginal "owners book" weight she is?

book weight originally was about 1100kg?

id be picking about 300kg diet....over original

It's got quite a heavy engine / box and a substantial roll cage but even so I think it could be as low as 600 or so kg all in. What do we win BTW? :icon_wink:

Paul Woods

You win the same weight in Haribos, so 3 packets.

I'm going for 900kgs. The fibreglass wings i dare say will be heavier than standard, the lack of webbing and structural on the doors/boot etc will save a fair whack.

Moustachio

820kg

Paul, would be VERY interested in fibre glass doors, wings, etc... if you start producing

boondougal

780kg... you almost need to tie it down in a light breeze!

I think i have all but decided to sell the car and keep the moulds, that is the sensible thing to do i think, i just know i'm not going to have any time to go racing, i need 30hr days as it is, so if anyone fancies this car drop me a PM to discuss.

Goldy

Put some decent wheels on and bang it on ebay you'll get a tidy sum for it!

it's times like this i'm glad you're an ocean apart. i'd find it damn difficult to say no to something like this.

Get the V8 in it.. won't be a power to weight conversation, more a weight to power one!!!!!

just noticed this paul, Me and my brother have just started building a ZR rally car and know lots of people in the rally world... might be interested in this ourselves, any idea where it raced? iirc plexiglass windscreen means it cant have been a grouped rally car?

Paul Woods

I sold the car some time ago now Adam, i believe it was just used for private events and not in any class as such mate.
