So unfortunately I'm going to be unable to do the V6 swap (2gr) that I wanted because I can't find a shop willing to do it :-(. But i still want that piece of crap 1zz out of my car. I'm leading towards the 1az or 1ar for the displacement and torque (I plan on boosting). Anyone have any suggestions.

Talk to gouky he had a six speed engined race mk1 that had an interesting engine choice.

1ZZ, I take it you have a Mk3 (Spyder)

I think a lot can depend on your own skills. I'd imagine a 2GR swap is fairly involved for a Mk3, but then boosting any of the other engine options will take a lot of custom work?

For ease of swap and ability to boost (supercharged versions were available) then I'd imagine a 2ZZ swap would be a relatively straightforward swap. The GE is a fairly heavy engine for its output and would write that one off from the start. Afraid the others I have no experience with.

Challenging to say the least Lee!

I'd go for the 2zz purely out of simplicity.

Im looking for more tq than the 2zz. What's the benefit to the 2zz besides simplicity. I mean actual performance stuff.

supercharged or turbo either is possible plus lite weight and a six speed box.

I can do that with the az with more tq. From what I hear, the az handles boost exceptionally well.

Sorry, your thread title has 2zz as one of the options in it, i thought it was a possible candidate for your swap. The 2zz revs its nuts off and is very much like the stock engine but with more power.

It is an option. Would u wrather a 2zz or an 2AZ (Based on performance)? Both engines being boosted.

i've never driven a 2AZ converted car so i can't comment on that, personally i'd have neither.

What would be your choice?

Into a Mk1 and Mk3 my personal favourite is the 1mz, the perfect balance of power/weight and daily driver.

In a Mk2 it would have to be a 2gr or Audi V8.

We still don't know which car you have?

2gr in the mk1 is mental and i bet in the mk3 is just as mad but only for us people who are SPECIAL, its like being hit in the face with a sledgehammer, pity you couldnt get any body to fit it.

No a 1mz in that would make it in to a large car ( tg need I say more).

How's the after market on a 1mz? I plan on boosting.

Pretty good to be honest. You can pick up a kit of complete gasket set (including MLS / copper head gasket), forged pistons (with rings and wrist pins, compression ratios from 7.9:1 to 9.1:1), performance main and rod bearing sets, plus timing belt for about $1300 as a set from some suppliers in the US. Add a set of rods (if needed at the power level you're looking for) and you'll be laughing, at least on the mechanical side of things.

After talking with Bryan over at Prime, I'm going to do a full build on a 2az. I'm using the money I had saved for the 2gr swap to buy a stroker kit and some sleeves. As far as numbers, I plan on being able to run a ridiculous amount of boost but haven't considered the HP goal.
Since this has never been done (to my knowledge) an obvious custom turbo kit is going to be needed. I plan on using an EFR turbine from Borgwarner (If there's room). I'll keep u guys in the loop since u all were so helpful.

I see that happened then....
