Similarly to the Mk1 thread, but for the Mk2 lads:

I'm interested to see how Brutal Mr2 wheel sizes compare with mainstream.....also feel free to vote even if your car is standard, it's the TB mindset I'm measuring in a way! If you have larger rears than fronts, vote for the fronts and add a post with details of the f/r difference.

(I'm betting there will be a big difference, and a few surprises!)

I have in the front and rear a different size....

18" for myself,

Though for size and cost reasons I imagine most Mk2 owners have 17"

I imagine offset is an important factor too?

Mine are ET35 all round 8" wide fronts and 9" wide rears :)

I personally don't like larger than 17s, especially if your two is lowered. But really, if I could find some old-school dish wheels in 15 or 16 I'd be over the moon.

...if only Konig would make these in 5 lug patterns :(

17x 8 front and 17x9 rear with 35 offset . Hate seeing 17 or 18 with very low profile on the back , looks like the car has a flat .

16x7 front 16x8 rears. Had 17's but went back to 16's as the car just feels so much better to drive.

Really? Can you explain that a bit?

Gyroscopic affect, rotational inertia, more progressive bite, slightly softer ride with more sidewall flex, lower unsprung weight ... :)

It's on the show and shine thread on mr2oc.com. 8x15s all round - no idea on the make but they look like Rota RBs (which come in 8x15).

One option I considering (although (a) 7-7.5 is enough at teh front I think and (b) I'll not be going as extremely low on the offset to start with, in order to keep under the standard arches).

That car does look hawt though :)

The odd thing about these results is that I went and did a brake kit for the 16"+ wheel to cater for the 16/17" masses, and since then it turns out the 15" OEM wheel is the one people want to fit brakes under! So I've just designed a 280x22 / 280x28 (reversable bracket) kit for them, but I can't help wondering why it turned out that way?

Do people doing trackdays tend to chuck a set of OEM SW20 15's on to keep the bigger bling wheels safe maybe?

I was doing a trackday at Brands Hatch the other day and there was my Mk2 (16's), a blue auto GT (14's) and a black Mk2 Turbo (15 OEM wheels)...so maybe that's it...

I'd say its more like buying a set of tyres for 14/15'' wheels is miles cheaper than the bigger sizes. Lets be fair I've ruined at least the rears on every track day i've done.... if you don't need new tyres at the end you aren't trying hard enough!

Its also pretty cheap to buy a second set of 15's just for the track.

Depending if I can sort out the engine or not I will be ordering the following specs...

18x10 15et Rears and 18x8.5 20et fronts

You going TRD or Abflug arches, as that is proper sticky outty specs for the Mk2

I got 15's, 16's and 18's But in my opinion the 15's are Fugly (OEM92+)

I personally like these:

I got 17x8 +35 on the fronts and 17x9 +40 on the rear, plenty of room in the rears but I'm on the limits on the front with tein type HA coilovers, my wheels sit 1mm from the coilovers and the wheel sits slightly out of the guards.

Standard Lee, Will have arches rolled, but it will fit. Known as 'Aggressive' which some people won't like. But the whole idea of my car is to be noticed to show off the interior.

That's probably it. I may be going 15" for that reason too. (on the Mk1 as well if I ever finish it :-( )
