Well guys,

Even tho my brain is telling me to buy a new 2 seater (elise/tvr/boxter) my heart keeps beging me to play with the gifts given to me...

Im kinda looking at a 2zz conversion, but i need to see if im gone regret not going 1.5/1.6... so if anyone can give me a left seat in Scotland i would get the bears in (maybe a pizza if i get all scared)...

Answers on a postcard(or pm)

Fanks...

ben...

Hi benny, i offer the 2zz for a mk1 just because it is a modern more poweful like for like engine replacement for the 4age, but in terms of outright bang for buck i don't think it will compare to owning a 3sgte or v6 powered mk1, they are completely different animals in every way.

Don't get me wrong, i think a 2zz mk1 will be stonking, but i read your "if i'm going to regret not going 1.5/1.6" bit and instantly thought, that's exactly what would happen if you ever drove one.

For me the 1mz-fe in a mk1 is just sublime, ticks all of my personal boxes, the 3sgte is just nuts.

Well I have one of the nuts one's. Next time you are heading down edinburgh way, send me a PM and i'll see if a quick blast around the bypass can be arranged.

I was talking to Oriracer yesterday about doing a 2zz swap but the only reason i would go with the 2zz is i am on his insurance and can get a shot of his 1.5 when i ask nice rotflmao i would go 1.5

I got a price for a 2zz today with all the parts for a swap they were looking for £1500, you could get a good 3sgte swap for that

I do like the idea of a 2zz 6speed in a mk1 and i am sure you could find a better price that i got today

Didn't know you offered a 2zz swap, would i need the immobiliser junk with swap bits or is there a way to bypass it

yeah you need a half clip including the transponder gubbins etc... only way around it is to go standalone.

Aye, you can't get transexual escort "girls" on there I don't think - but you can get a lot of things. Including large diesel heaters, insanely cheap.

ive always fancied a d4d convesion diesel 180bhp and good fuel economy plus a 6 speed verso box and your laughing i was wondering if that engine uses the 3sgte jig.

i may have a bash at one of these in the future in a mk1 or mk3.

£1500... But thats only if you can do all the work yourself right??

I cant weld for toffee and dont have the workspace so it would have to be Woodsports all the way...

The 2zz works out much cheaper that way, and plus insurance will be about £300 a year cheaper for me...

If i had the cash right now i would probs go for a 3sgte too, for pure speed it must be amazing... But overall driveability... a unit lighter than the 4age with as much power out of the box as a good supercharger...

Maybe it would be a better back road beast???

Opinions very welcome on this, ive not been in a 1.5 so its just a guess... Handling is as important to me as acceleration tho...

well offer is there. I think the sort of build you are going for, (correct my if I am wrong paul) you will pay woodsport less for a 3sgte than a 2zz only because they have done them before. also if you have a quick search of ebay easier to get a 3sgte than a 2zz.

I think you just need a left seat in a 1.6 and 1.5 then you will see what the fuss is about.

Having commented on a post in Mr2mk1club by Paul, i believe he could offer the 2zz for about £3k turnkey including the 6 speed box... i might have got the wrong end of the stick tho...

I priced up a 1.5 convo at 5K inc all the brake and sus mods i would want... (tho the 2zz price doesnt take this into account...)

Am i wrong in thinking this???

Im open to ideas, i love the idea of having a high rev sleeper, but the 1.5 (and btw what does it redline at?) is the ultimate 5sec 0-60, mr2 supercar...

I think when you cost out the parts plus install its all about the same, labour is what costs really at the end of the day. If you put in the hours then you can do it for the price of the parts else you have to factor it all in

lets call the engine or the celica 2k all in
Price for a 3sgte, or rev1 turbo is about the same.

I know if I plug 3sgte i get more results.

I still stand by end of the day 3sgte will be less, unless woods does you a deal ;)

redline stock is around 7k rpm, yes it really does do 5sec 0-60....

a 1.5 is really nuts and these 2gr's that on the ship from the states are going to be more nuts along with the v8's. Really in a 1.5 keep it under 300bhp, 700bhp may be cool but doing 1/4 on the only the back wheels, is not practical to drive.

I don't think we need to get into the debates Mr woods has had on the Mr2mk1club forums about Speed vs handling.... with some of the members there :)

Yes the prices i have quoted on the mk1 club are a special first conversion of its type deal, i always do that for firsts because we learn a lot in the process.

I think a 2zz will ultimately be cheaper than a 3sgte swap anyway due to no IC fitments/rear boot wall mods etc but until we have a go at one we are guessing on the turnkey price at the mo.It also depends how cheaply the celica clips can be picked up for too.

I think an early 2010 Scottish day run out should definitely happen.

I think a separate thread is in order for organising.
