Alright fellas, after months and months of pinching my pennies to be sure I had plenty to cover the down payment and closing costs on my house, I wound up with some cash left over and what better to spend money on than a new engine stand decoration? :D The engine has arrived, pried from its former shell and shipped over from Minnesota and having just got a new camera charger as well, tonight seemed like a good night to start my own swap thread. I've been wanting a V6 MR2 ever since reading about one in a magazine a decade ago and after finally getting done with college and landing a decent job last year, it's easy to see where my money has been going!

Here's the car, a 94 turbo:

And the recently-purchased beater that will keep me going while the two is out of commission. That's 49 horsepower and a 1 liter 3 cylinder under the hood!!
http://www.woodsport.org/forum/images/recovered/2009/11/168.jpg

The engine, pulled from a 2007 sienna with only 8K miles on it and now in my garage, ready to be put on the stand:

...and the victims of the bastard who pulled it:

I expected the wiring harness to be cut but come on, was it really necessary to hack the exhaust manifolds?

And possibly the boost that'll be plugged into it, depending on how cheap I'm feeling when Gouky starts selling his supercharger kits:

So yeah, lots of work to do before I can even think about putting the thing in. Need to get the wiring sorted along with the headers and engine mounts as money allows. Add the power steering pump, alternator, MAP, and whatever else they left off the engine too and you can guess that I'll be busy for a while. Updates soon to come!

Oof! A 2GR on NoS!? That will be something to behold!

Sweet!

Shame the yard saw fit to butcher the manifolds so cack-handely but I'm assuming you'll be opting for some "Gouky-spec" headers (G-pipes?) from Marc?

Nitrous eh? Vin Diesel Approves! Just be sure not to run out whilst at altitude :)

looks like you managed to get a motor with an oil cooler. i'm subscribing to this :)

sucks about the harness. why the hell would they do that? on the sienna the ECU is right next to the motor. releasing the connector from the ecu is much easier than cutting it.

as for the cats, they get good money for them so i'm not surprised they kept them. i've got a few spare sets if you're wanting to keep cats on it.

oh and when you plumb the nitrous make sure you place the injection nozzle a little upstream from the throttle body so the fuel/nitrous can spread evenly. the intake manifold splits into two sections almost imediately after the throttle body and without even distribution your banks will be running unevenly.

I'll be PMing you about a set of "G-Pipes" after a couple more paychecks come in so no need to worry about the cats, Marc. And yeah, that's beyond lazy to cut the harness with the ecu sitting right next to it.

I'll be setting up some pressure switches to shut it off if either the nitrous or the fuel pressure drops so things will be nice and safe. No point in doing all this work just to cook my engine :)

For anybody who might be reading this thread in the future, here's the jetting info on the nitrous running E-85 fuel. My hope is that with the cool-burning, high octane fuel I'll be able to run a pretty decent shot.

HP N20 E-85
35 31 20
50 35 22
75 41 25
100 52 32
125 57 34
150 62 38

Looks cool Brian a 2GR and NOS - I take it this is not your daily drive? Will you be using any form of traction control or LSD?

No, I've got the geo for my commuter car and as for traction control or LSD, no plans at the moment. We'll see how it does with the stock LSD and a good set of tires before worrying about it.

Got a little work done the last few days. I bought a cherry picker off craigslist and put it up on the stand during a lunch break.

http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/images/recovered/2009/12/25.jpg

Stripped, cleaned, and sanded the front valve cover to get it ready for painting. Ran into a little annoyance on the way and discovered that one of the coil/igniters was cracked and broken. They're supposed to come out all in one piece and without the vice grips and screw driver, unlike this one:
http://www.woodsport.org/forum/images/recovered/2009/12/159.jpg

Also discovered it had gotten some rust in around the spark plug due to the water getting in through the cracked piece. Not quite sure how I'm going to get a brush in there to clean it out but I don't like the idea of pulling the plug with all that junk around it.

http://www.woodsport.org/forum/images/recovered/2009/12/160.jpg

Anyway, got it all taken apart and took lots of pictures to remember what went where and this is what it looks like with the top off:

Got a coat of paint on the one cover as well but will probably do some more wet sanding and give it another coat when I do the other one.

More to come! :shades:

sorry about your luck on that plug hole. i wonder how it happened, it certainly could not be running 100% with 5 working cylinders.

Seeing as it's on a stand, turn the engine upside down and remove the plug, That way you'll get no shit in your cylinder.

I'm guessing it fell victim to the same guy who hacked the cats and wiring harness off

Good idea! That'll save me some headache for sure.

Have you got a dremmel type tool? should get rid of the rust and other crud and a good vacuuming might help.

Right, it's just a pain to get down in there so I'l have to fashion something to reach it.
