Hi, all Im new to this site and I have been told its the place to come when modding an MR2 :)

Anyway, I have a Rev2 MR2 Turbo that I want to put a charge cooler on.

So far I have -

ST205 Charge cooler
ST205 Pump
Fiat Radiator

My Main problem is I dont know what throttle body parts to buy. I know I need an Accelerator cable mount, throttle sock and throttle body mount But since my car is a Rev2 do I go for the ST185 parts or will ST205 parts still fit my Rev2?

I was thinking -

ST185 Throttle sock as I have been told the ST205 wont fit on the Rev2
ST205 Accelerator Cable mount (might needed modded but shouldnt be too hard). Is it right that the ST185's accel. cable mount mounts to the side of the throttle body on the celica (thats why I was thinking ST205 mount)?
Dont know what Throttle body mount / stay to use, was thinking of buying both just incase :)

Any help on this would be great, dont want to throw money away on parts that wont fit :)

Thanks

Firstly, Welcome to Twobrutal

I started looking at this a while ago on a rev1 engine, take a look here:

Nice, just what Im looking for. All the other Chrage cooler guides I have seen are for Rev3+ :)

Heres a pic of my car, will have to post some more up later -

does the ST185 Throttle sock not cause any restrictions?

welcome to TwoBrutal stevo

i'm in the process of getting round to adding a c/c to my two

here is a list of parts with numbers you will need from mr T

Charge cooler

1 x Coolant Bottle - T08889-80002

2 x Bolts to bolt down CC core - T91631-60816

2 x Long Throttle Body Bolts w/washer - T90119-08870

4 x Throttle Sock Bolts - T91511-B0825

1 x Throttle Sock - T17861-88480

1 x Accel. Bracket - T78024-88480

1 x Engine Hoist Hook - T12281-88480 (requires modifying)

2 x CC Pump Bolt - T90105-10393

4 x Foglight Bolts - T90075-02717 (had to drill existing ones out)

1 x Throttle Body Support - T17871-88480

1 x CC Expansion Tank + pipework - T16650-74020

a pair of silicon pipe reduces for the rad ( have a look on e-bay you will be able to pick them up cheap enough )

and you will need some strong hose roughly 2 car lengths which you can pick up from b&q

all these priced up worked out to be iirc about £235 there a re a few items you could get away with, the expansion bottle was about £55 but some conversions have not bothered with it, it will just mean you have to keep an eye on the level

I wouldnt have thought it would be any worse than the standard inlet that you remove.

Thanks but again they are ST205 / Rev3 parts. Will things like the Throttle body mount still fit on a Rev2?

Also the Engine Hoist hook, will the ST205 Engine hoist hook fit onto a Rev2? Do people realy bother with this engine hoist hook? I know it has 1 mount hole to mount the charge cooler but people have been saying once the cc is bolted to the Turbo and throttle sock you dont even need to use the mounts as it sits solid enough without them. I know its handy to have if you need to take the engine out but surely its not a big job to remove the cc and refit the old mr2 hook?

why not just drill a hole in the mk2 hoist hook where the cc needs to go and put a nut and bol through unless the celica one is bigger than normal.

apparently the MR2's hoist catches on the Charge cooler so needs removed and replaced with the celicas

Picked my 185 throttle sock up today from Toyota. Lined it up with the CC and it looked like it was going to be a hard job to get it to fit. Boiled the kettle applied some fairy washing up liquid to the Charge cooler pipe put the sock into boiling water and it actaully went on quite easy, only took about 30 seconds!!

Yeah, keep the Mr2 hook to the side and fit the cc on the turbo and sock. You'll find that 2 other bolt holes in the feet line up with the head so you're solid.

If you ever have to drop the engine you'll be removing the cc anyways so just bolt the hook back on then.

I will probably never drop the engine anyway

I supose I could also make a bracket / mount to bolt where the mr2 hoist was and bolt the CC to that if I wanted

More parts arrived today. ST205 Throttle body mount, ST205 Accel cable mount and all the bolts to bolt the throttle parts down. Dont think the ST205 TB Mount will fit the Rev2 so might need a little modding :)

So far I have -

ST205 Charge Cooler
ST205 Pump
Little white overflow / swirl pot or what ever it is
Fiat Rad
Water Pipe
ST185 Sock
ST205 TB Mount / Stay
ST205 Accel cable mount
TB Bolts

and my total so far is £244. Only need Jubilee Clips and 90 Degree Reducers now so I estimate a total of around £270 when complete so not bad at all :)

Just wondering how close do you need to get the Turbo intake pipe to line up with the turbo? I have got it close (about 5mm from perfect) but to get it closer it looks like I will need to slice a bit off the turbo intake pipe on the CC Core as it catches on the turbo.

As long as I can get the turbo to CC hose on and clamped down tight will I be ok? This is what its like now -

Would you just leave it like that or slice a bit off the cores intake pipe and bend it some more (I just dont want to fill the core with metal filings thats the only thing :( )?

Am I worrying about nothing? Looks good enough too me but wanted to hear from the pros :)

Im guessing I wont loose any performance with it being 5mm off?

Thanks

Also is this right?

http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/7441/questionqz.jpg

And which pipe is the inlet and which is the outlet on the core?

Thanks
