I need some good tyres for use with the track wheels.

They'll need to be 205/?/15 in size.

What do folks suggest as slightly cheaper options than R888's? Not Goodyear F1's or Toyo Proxies as they wear too quick for track (I'll have eagle F1's on the Azev's) what else should i be looking at?

Some people rate the new Dunlop SP9000 quite highly.

I had the SP 9000, thought they were excellent in the wet, savage lateral grip.

Have since used uniroyal rainsport II and they were a damn good tyre as well, not sure what size profile are available for them though this was on my old 16's in the Mrk II.

Hope that helps and doesn't add to the confusion.

Good info peeps.

SP9000's are pretty good price wise too. Might well give them a go on the track wheels and see how i get on.

Will save for some Eagle F1's on the 16 Azevs.

The Eagle's are GREAT road tyres, but, they're too soft for the track. They'll over heat and fall apart quickly if you're giving it beans.

T1R is a bit harder IIRC. Maybe look at them as an alternative?

Nah, i want the best i can for the road (F1's) which i can then use if it's pissing down on track.

Track tyres will mainly be used for dry trackdays where i can skelp them and the odd run out. That's why i was initially looking at the R888's but was looking for something a touch cheaper. SP9000's seem to have good reviews so i'll see about getting a set sorted.

I've got proxys on the rear of mine and I don't rate them that much esp in the wet.

lol Very good.

I dare say they are good tyres, just these ones might have gone a touch unpliable (sp?)

Anywho's, might aswell upgrade.

Have heard good things about these, not tried myself but had ecsta's on my road rims and loved 'em, loads of grip and good in the wet. Very underated tyres and still a sensible price.
