Well paul it fits / lines up much better on the mk1a will need a little triming into wheel arches but i think its a brilliant fit in general, fits better than on a mk1b.

Front view fits flush with front of bumper mk1a bumper isnt as angled as the mk1b s

Close ups of the corners the shape seem sto line up witht the bumper almost perfectly

on the corners it matches the profile arounfd the mka bumper very well with enough material to trim down to get perfect around bumper

and also where the front wing curves under the car the spoiler fits well and will be easy to blend in

and the tab in the middle of the spoiler lines up with the old spoiler support bar to but its alittle far back so a spacer and longer bolt required

also the profile of the spoiler seem sto match the bumper well too sticks out further than bumper

thinking i might attach it and blend it into the wings and make brackets behind so it supports its self and the actuall bumper is seperate so can be taken off if needed but not 100percent yet

That's ace Rob, will look braw when it's done.

Will be good to see how this looks with the standard skirts on there too.

Just a thought, can you fit a mk1a front bumper skin to a Mk1b reinforcement bar?

not a clue on that one to be honest i remember hearing the wings are slightly different to be not sure about that one

Ach well, just a thought for the b'ers.

Seeing as it's a Mk1a i've got here it's a moot point pour moi.

How are you thinking of doing the sides then, flush n blended or rubber sealed? I reckon i'll be going for straight sides with the rubber, will save on any cracking ever and it'll be removable.

not sure yet it would blend in very easy as it meets wings right on the shape change, i like the idea of being able to take it off though but dont think the bits that go onto the arches fit quite well enough for that. might cut the little bits that wrap round the arches off and try that on a black car wonts see the rubber trims much either

might work with some of those flush mounting panel clips to pull it in at the arches for quick removal

Flush mounting panel clips?

Any info on them?

like these motorsport teams use them for quick panel changes

thinking where the wings curve in at the bottom i could make a bracket for the clip to mount into and hold the spoiler in the right place thinking two each side

could use them to mount it to underside of the actual bumper too

OlberJ

Oh aye, i can see them working nicely.

One at each side and a few on the top of the valance/bottom of the bumper too? Think that'd hold them alright?

Either you're thinking quicker or you're typing quicker than me lol

think with it fitting well against mk1a bumper if i can get the arch parts to look right this is the way i m going to do it then can be taken off in ten mins and no issues with possible cracking of filler, will have to make supports for bottom of front wings to chassis though as they normally get their strength from the metal front splitter

on those clips a curvy spring is mounted to the fixed panel behind with screws or rivets hole drilled through the outer panel and the inner one then the outer part attaches to outer panel,

when you put the pin in the hole and turn it it locks onto the spring behind holding it tight

I used to use them to hold the fairing on my racing sidecar. They work good enough. Repeated use when fixed into fibreglass wasn't great but that could be more to do with the stress of fixing the fairing directly to the chassis and the chassis flexing during hard use. If its plastic to plastic the flex won't be as bad they will move together.

They are damn good for quick removal and installing though.

will be fibreglass outer panel but steel inner with the spring mounted on, i ll get the ones with the metal brackets they sit in and possible reinforce the back with some extra fibreglass cloth if they start flexing
