ok so i have the 4agze out of my mr2 and i was looking at the e53 transmission i have that came off of it. as i was looking at it i decided to compare it to pics of the e153 trans. out of a mk2mr2 and they look very similer except for a few bolt holes for the trans. mounts. the point im getting is, does anyone know if the e53 trans. will bolt up to a 3vz-fe. im sure ill find out when i get the motor but im not sure when that will be becuase camrys are kind of hard to come by im my area for under $2000.

no it won't im afraid, the bellhousing pattern on the E53 and E153 are totally different.

Actually you might be lucky. Here the SC gearbox, and it's long driveshaft, are pretty rare. Possibly worth rather more than a common turbo gearbox. Not sure what the situation is in your part of the world though?

they are pretty rare here to i would have to sell it on the mr2oc i dont think i could sell it locally, as far as i know i have one of four in the state. i might hold on to it to though a buddy at a local machine shop thinks he can fix the crank on the 4agze so the engine and trans might end up im my roomates corolla.

My two cents would be hang onto the shafts and trans till you locate a E153 for your ride. I made a very good trans using parts from my E53 in a junky Turbo Tubby box I got on craigslist, rebuilt the SC shafts and away I went.
On the topic I have a question for the U.K. guys. Will the SC shafts plug right into a limited slip box?

Afraid not, you need the LSD shafts (or at least the inboard part of the shaft) to match the LSD box. The bolt pattern is the same though so if you could find just the inboard end you could bolt it to your SC shaft.

would you be able to use the long and short mk1sc shafts with the e153 trans. or do you need to use two shorts.

Yes that will work too.

ok thats great i like hearing that i dont have to buy at least one more $400 axle. will it still work with a camry trans. if so what has to be modified on it to make it work in an mr2. i belive the camrys use an s54 transmission is that correct?

You can't use the camry trans in an mr2,the shifter linkages are on the wrong side but yes the SC shafts should still plug into a camry trans as well.

The v6 manual trans is an E53 i believe.
