Just seen a mention elsewhere ( http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?p=924173#924173 ) of a Mk1 rallycross car fitted with a Honda 2.7 V6 - anyone else heard about it ?

That would be the ultimate I think! I suspect it won't be cheap anywhere though to get one of those :(

Just imagine the noise! I think i'd drive to the nearest tunnel and sit there revving the engine until it ran out of fuel or I died..

Plenty of V6 Honda engines for not a lot of cash out there :P

think it might of been the one for sale near me as they also had a mk2 with the engine fitted and quite a neat job I seem to remember.

One turned up on ebay a while ago - If I remember rightly though, the honda v6 has BHP that the camry v6 and the swap didn't look all that good....

Sure there was a thread on here

177 BHP 168 lb.ft as fitted to the Rover 827 Vitesse

Dunno how much it weighed compared to the Camry V6 though

do the Honda V-engines spin the wrong way like their 4 pots though? if so then it creates some major problems

I was chatting to a guy from weston-super-mare a while a go a car meet and he said he had fitted Honda V6's to both a mk1 and a mk2. It all sort of tied together as he said he was selling the mk2 on ebay at the time , and there was one on there at Weston.

Aguy at wok is about to scrap a mid 90's prelude at work with a good 2.2 vtec drive train, but like Jim says the gearbox is on the other side to Toyota installs.

diff comes out on the wrong side then though. if an engine and gearbox are in a front engined FWD setup then the driveshafts almost always come out behind the engine. the MR2 requires the same setup, unless you want to move the engine weight behind the rear axle, which would suck!! so most FWD engines can be done, but a Honda would require turning around 180 degrees, which would put the diff on the wrong side of the engine.

im not sure if the V6 engines are the same or similar, or what transmissions are available, but if it spins the wrong way then id say it isnt worth the work. there are far better V6's out there that dont exhibit the installation complications
