So after 9 months i am finaly putting everything back on my '85. After putting in the starter and everything else ready to time it i cudnt get it to turn over. No clicks nothing. the headlights dont dim but the clock does. Is it my starter or wireing? i just cant figure it out.

i found this between my battery and exhaust mani. from the wireing its not going far but i cant find out were it goes. This is why u dont let a car sit apart for 9 monthshttp://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i279/hand_solo21/0425081447.jpg

i dont think its part of my problem tho. I still get no power to the starter. the relay is fine, no blown fueses. I dont like electronics

That's for the engine bay cooling fan temp sensor, usually on a bracket at the end of the cylinder head.
Won't have any effect on starting, but the fan will run continously with the sensor disconnected.

get a test light or multimeter on the wires going to the starter motor, u should have power to one wire when the key is at 'on' and power to the other when the key is at 'start' if your not getting these then don't look at the starter motor, look at the wiring

Fusible link is under the sleeving circled and is on the white wire. Black/blue wire goes to the starter

None of the wires going to the +ve terminal should be grounded.
