Was going to do a 4agze swap, but since I'm tracking the car and nothing is going to be stock anyway I figured I'd step it up. Anyone have any pluses or minuses on the 1mz vs 3sgte? Fuel mileage too, I'd like to try some endurance courses.

For tracking, I'd say a nice s/c 1mz.

lightweight alloy block, 200bhp out the box, bags of torque, linear delivery etc.

Is there a parts required list for this? And how insane are fabbing the motor mounts? I know there is a little jig for the 3sgte.

speak to Paul Woods about the 1MZ Mk1 swap, he's doing one as we speak.

Also, speak to FourVeeSix about the motor mount. Be quick though, he's not making them anymore!

Ahh! Ok must hurry. Is the 1mz a better idea than the 3vz? seems the 1mz swap hasn't been done as much

The 1MZ is better, in my opinion only if you're not planning to add much boost. It's a wiring nightmare compared to the 3VZ - being ODB2.

I'd look at a good standalone for the 1MZ, it'd make the swap a lot easier.

Standalone? You mean like running megasquirt? Still trying to find a 1mz log..

Megasqurt could do it ... I know Link XLEM does it nicely.

Wow turns out 1mz came in mid 90's avalons and camrys in the states and are all over the place dirt cheap.

They are in the Sienna too. I never knew you were in the US ... If I were you then, I'd look for the 3.3ltr 3MZ-FE.

Same complexity as the 1MZ, but 300cc more displacement. Join up on MR2.com forums and speak to Oteck on there, he's done it already into a Mk2. Very tidy install.

Awesome. I'm already there somewhere, haven't found a forum to call home yet :)

Can they get a supercharger on them? What does weight look like? What car does that 3.3 come in?

I'm not so sure about the S/C - but personally, if it were an option, I'd choose the displacement over the TRD S/C as they're a pile of Paul Woods's shite.

The 3.3 comes in:-

2004-2006 Toyota Camry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Camry) SE V6
2004- Toyota Camry Solara (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Camry_Solara)
2004-2006 Toyota Sienna (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Sienna)
2003-2007 Toyota Highlander (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Highlander)
2005- Toyota Highlander Hybrid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Highlander_Hybrid)
2003-2006 Lexus RX 330 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lexus_RX)
2006- Lexus RX 400h (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lexus_RX_400h)
2004-2006 Lexus ES 330 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lexus_ES)
2006- Mitsuoka Orochi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsuoka_Orochi)

The 3MZ-FE is a 3.3 L (3310 cc) version . Bore is 92 mm and stroke is 83 mm. Output is 225 hp (168 kW) with 240 lb·ft (325 N·m) of torque in the Camry and 215 hp (160 kW) with 222 lb·ft (301 N·m) of torque in the Sienna and Highlander. It also features VVT-i (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VVT-i).

225bhp in standard form .. I bet there's 250bhp from that with a good ECU, and around 275lb/ft. There's a guy call Enthalpy who's a top tuner for a few EMS's out on your side of the water. He's a top guy, very helpful and has forgotten more than I'll ever know!

I'll check the 3.3 out, but it clearly looks more expensive. So it sounds like it would be same weight, and could run in the NA races. Also I have a NOS kit. I hate them but it came free with the car... wth. maybe once :)

I'ts approx 25bhp more, 40lb/ft more, and about 5kg heavier I bet. Worth it if you can source a cheapish one!

Know if there are any differences in the lexus and toyota versions of the motor?

I'd guess the Lexus would sacrifice some power for refinement.

I'm also guessing the Solara one would have the most poke

This is substantially more expensive then the 1mz. Cheapest i could find 50 miles away is 1300USD with 76kmiles on the motor. cheapest was 800, 2000 miles away. My truck has too much fun with gas for that :) Still gotta call a couple local hole in the walls.

I've never swapped a motor like this before, not done a custom ECM like megasquirt. This should be interesting.
