Any idea where i can find the paint code stamped on my mk2? It doesnt appear to be on the vin plate in the front. Service book says "Aquamarine 741" but i'm not convinced as that was written in 93!!

And your car was painted around the same time lol

Run down to Halfords and check it on their system

Yeah, that was written by somebody working at a Toyota main dealer - say no more!! Would be nice to see 741 stamped on the car somewhere, but just cant find it. Its an expensive mistake to make.

Isn't there any paint/trim codes on the VIN at all ?

Nothing resembling 741 i'm afraid. Any Mk2 (U.K spec) owners out there seen their paint codes stamped up?

Post up what is on the VIN plate ( not the VIN itself of course ) - I've a fairly complete list of MR2 paint codes somewhere, and/or someone may recognise the code

Think it could be 746?

Yeah I thought that. 746 refers to Turquoise pearl on MartG's link. I can only best describe my colour as greeny blue. Aquamarine 741 on service record. My camera doesnt really pick the colour up very well so not much point posting it up. to confuse issues, the log book says blue! - no obvious signs of respray and colour in engine bay and under trim seems to match. Confused.

maybe buy a small can of 746 from halfords and test on a piece of metal for colour match?

Yep, spray it on underside of bonnet or boot and see how it matches.

I've found them to actually be ok, for my limited needs anyways

They're no bad with some but others are a mile out.

Also folk spray on new paint expecting it to match 20 yr old faded paint and reckon it's a bad match sometimes. lol

Think it could be 746?

Reckon you're right there  The rest of that line will be the interior trim code

So your advice is

1. Clean the original paint (t-cut and wax?)
2. Spray near it
3. Leave to set - go away and wire 4 wires together
4. Come back and check

? lol lol

6) Collect car
