As above, would a 2litre NA rear clip from a mk2 dropped into a mk1 be brutal enough to stay here?! ill be needing info from here no doubt, but i have a car ready to strip, and facny saving up to do something proper brutal to the black shell in the future. the mounts for the 1.5 are there so thisll get the car on the road at least...

Any advise on which year engine to go for as i know theres some differences, but they keep coming up for next to nothing...

TBH its not really what I'd recommend going for but what the hell go for it. Noone will really argue, its your car at the end of the day.

Just bear in mind its not really gonna be much of a gain.

Seems like a lot of hassle for not much gain specially with the very early 2 litre units, and surely by fitting an n/a you have done most the hard work?

i dont care personally wether u have a 2 litre na in a mk1 or vvti or turbo in the spirit of brutal u are swopping a bigger engine in and geting a better car for it .
and it will be drive able and u can save up for the turbo version or the v6 or wot floats your boat dude so its a bonus all round with me yay u go for it dude .

id say if your going to do it then go for the rev 3 lump as its supposed to put out somewhere in the region of 175bhp, maybe with filter and full exhaust might get an extra 10bhp out of it if your lucky.

as paff said its your car so you should have a think about it, whether you might want more power out of it, in which case you might want to hold off and go 3sgte or alter the mounts and go V6

either way im sure we'd all want a look at the install regardless of what engine your swapping in...

I'd say its still brutal... it'll have a lot more grunt than a tuned up revvy 1.6 lump. As above rev3 engine decatted with filter, and maybe some cams could be good?

I think someone has already done a 3SGE swap into a mk1 to make a track machine!

As above.

It's what i planned first before i decided on going for the V6. If the engine and gearbox will go in on the mk1.5 mounts and you can pick them up cheap as chips i'd say go for it. Only if you're putting it in as is, if you're rebuilding the engine go straight for a V6. That's what swung it for me.

Well im looking at it from a getting the car on the road point of view, as the mounts are there.Makes more sense to rebuild whatever of the turbo or v6 engines i eventually decide to go with, which realisticly is something i cant afford to do within the next 6months or so now, so a NA lump should get me some experience working on the two, and of course ill have a few of the parts ready when i go for a bigger lump.

I think the whole black mk1 thing is quite brutal on its own... :D

loving it more power to the cheap as chips motors luv recycling old unwanted engines into old unloved cars.
there is something theraputic about it my other half says it is because men can not give birth so can not create life so we try to create in wood steel stone and multitude of art forms to express our selves in ours just happens to be the infernal combustion engine.

a 3sge on megasquirt with bike throttle bodies would sound mad on full chat:thumbsup:

True, a set of GSXR or the likes TB's would go perfect on the 2.0 and an MS. Fairly cheap too.

Very similar setup to what we used with the 205Mi16's and they saw about the 200BHP mark and sounded outstanding. Shifted bloody well too.

I reckon you'd be able to do that, once the 2.0 is in and running for about the £500 mark.

or just look in the TOMS catalogue...was tempted a while back with a F3 spec 3sge...would have only cost $18k...for the long motor.....
ITB's...ECU...cams...pistons and crank...all shiney bits..

or the stroker kit for the 1uz....out too 4.7L

Do it. Yea. Do it.

get a filter and meaty system on it and it'll sound like a beast, and fast as a turbo it wont be, but faster than a 4ag it will be young jedi, so why not?

I was gonna do this originally, just went turbo solely cos i got offered an engine i couldnt refuse. I still may do an NA once mine is done, as i love the fake vtec tvis snap noise they make!

hmmm sorry but ive out grown the 4 potters 6s and 8s for my toys.
i am sorting out some time in the future a hyabusa v8 turbo motor a bit hush hush at the mo but we reckon 550 bhp for one 4 cylinder y not make it into a v8 and double the power 1100 bhp in a motorbike hehehehe not many gears needed hes reckoning on about 3 speed gearbox fast faster and ludicress speed should be fun i am going to way up the dimensions of the motor it might just slot in the back of a mk1 when hes not looking.

hes very posesive of his toys hes made a v12 motorbike out of 2 1300 honda 6 cylinder we used to call them super tankers cause of the size of the straight six massive gas tank to cover the engine on a standard bike i dont think that would fit in a mk1 but hey you never know it does have a standard car clutch though hmmmm dam im typing aloud again.

TbarTURBO: I had a 3sge engine in my mk1. Its only 26hp more in the 3sge but the tourqe in the 3sge makes it easier to drive on the track. I had some fights round the racetrac between my 3sge and a friends 4age, and most of the times I drove from him:driving:
