Why add bolt ons and upgrade pullies when you can do weight reduction?
Or why not do both
Well this thread will be dedicated towards my weight reduction plan. This mr2 is going to be annorexic. thats for sure.
The plan is to build many body panals out of carbon fibre and fibreglass. I'm a helicopter structural technican and im applying everything ive learned from my trade into this mr2.
It will be expensive to do, im estimating 2000 dollars (canadian) on materials and a rediculous amount of time.
So far i have dissasembled the front section of the car. I decided on only getting the front dissasembled first and not the whole car so i can keep track of what goes where and not get confused.
What i have here is an 86 hardtop, basemodel, manual everything :D
I think that was a decent start by itself:D

Plan on rebuilding that cross beam out of aluminum, looks hefty

All the loot.
The lights weight ALOT! the motor and the metal brackets are rediculous, so ill have to rebuild those. I think ill have them popped up all the time and make a manual lever should i want them down, or vice versa.
The hood was pretty heavy, i was quite amazed by that. The fenders weren't very heavy though, a bit of a disappointment. However rebuilding them out of a composite material will prevent rust on them, so no worries about that one.
The bumper was heavy aswell. that will be a good rebuild.
The towing brackets were removed aswell, i really hope i dont regret that one later on.
