hi guys

have noticed this for a while now, the idle speed randomly sits up at arround 2200rpm to 3000rpm this can be when cold, or after a long drive, strange!!

anyone else seen or had this?

Mine occasionally bounces to that but usually just after coming to a stop. Sort of think it might be something related to the Auto ecu. It never stays that high tho

i did suspect the Auto ecu, and as you say it races when you come to a halt! but then going slow in say traffic or car parks etc, the high idle speeds just feels weird the car drives itself!!!

matt is it high all the time or just bounces up to 2000rpm after you have blipped the throttle?

well some times when its cold it stays high untill it warms up a bit, then when its been on a long run, it stays at around 2200rpm. but when i got home, i stared it again like 5 mins later, and the idle speed was normal again.

try resetting the ecu....leave the battery off for 30 secs.... have you had the ignition switched on without cranking the engine for any extended periods? this sometimes throws the ecu into a fit idle wise...it seems to do this when it hasnt seen the cranking signal after a set period of time, reset the ecu and take note of what it does idle wise after that

good show, you must have left the ignition switched on at one time or another by accident.

That's an odd cause... oh well, at least it's solved. :)

yeah the ecu waits for the cranking signal on pin A11 once the ignition is switched on,after a long period of time it throws a wobbly if the STA signal never comes,a few people have emailed me thinking there was something wrong with the conversion when in fact all they had been doing was sitting with the ignition on listening to barry white on the cd player without the engine running lol
