View Full Version : Exhausting!!
Well, i'm booked into the same place David Sleith went for an exhaust, next saturday, biggest thing now is to decide what i want!
So far ive decided that Davids short system would be too loud as the exhaust guy wouldnt be able to get me a bung to fit in the end and silence it when it pissed me off.
Also, me and Mike Sherry gut pulled by the rozzers the other night for having a loud system in his car, the cops face was a picture when he saw the lack of interior, he actually said "Is your car always in this state of disrepair!"
So, i was thinking about getting a shorter version of the mk2 turbo nur spec with a single bigish silencer, made up in 2.5 inch pipework.

Would this get me decent flow without being stupidly loud and is 2.5 in big enough for flow without getting me boost creep and blowing my turbo's oil seals?
For the record, heres David's exhaust, short but sweet :)

i would personally get a longer quiter system if you are doing any sort of long journeys in it, otherwise it gets very tiring :fart2:
Im liking the Nur spec idea, go for it

Mimic the standard turbo setup with a large box across the back?
Again, I'm all for a slightly quieter system; Remember that they will also get louder with age.

How loud is Davids?
Is it Stainless Creations that's doing it for you, Murf?
What about having a system that loops round with an extra intermediate silencer when in anti-asbo mode, and a flapper thing to bypass the intermediate silencer when giving it the beans?

I was lying under the car in the garage and heard it coming from the roundabout at the bottom of Hamilton.

Well, thanks to me having to work this weekend i'll have to put off exhaust fitting untill another weekend, grr!
However, ive been thinking about getting a twin centre exhaust like the mini cooper s and taking a cutout out of the rear valance for the exhaust to protrude from, whats peoples opinion on this?
Fancy doing a photoshop for me Mr Olie??

Ok, exhaust is done! Decided not to go centre exit in the end, got a 2.5 in system with 3in tailpipe,in stainless.
The guy made a superb job of it, welds are spot on! Its pretty quiet at idle, burbles nicely, and sounds great when driving. Not too loud and droney either but a good bit noisier that stock when you floor it!
They got sent the wrong size flexi, so ive to go back next week to get one fitted. They onle fitted one hanger though, i was thinking it would be better with another one in the middle of the boot floor as a lot of the weight is away from the hanger, what do you guys think?

That's a nice looking exhaust - a bit far to travel to get one made up for mine though.

looks good, should be a fair bit quieter than the one on mines, i set off a row of car alarms trickling along at 1500rpm today lol
Looks good chief
You can get a strap that goes round the rear silencer and then connects to a hanger if you think it's a bit unstable, saves you welding it aswell.
Although you could ask them to stick another one on when they put in the flexi.
What that cost you if you don't mind me askin?
