2GR-FE in MR2 Mk III Help

    Hello
I have a Toyota MR2 MK3, .. Yesterday I bought a 2GR-FE engine from the Toyota Camry with automatic gearbox ..... and now I'm going to swap it.
I tried to discern more information, but everywhere all confusing.
Generally, please explain to me how it looks this substitution. what parts will I need?

Welcome to the club buddy! :D

    A swap of epic proportions!

Woodsport has carried out one or two of these and am sure he'll chip in with anything necessary but it's nowhere near as simple as drop the engine in.

    - Buy Gouky's custom engine mount kit, clutch and flywheel
    - Buy an LSD mk2 turbo gearbox with driveshafts
    - But ST185 outer cv's
    - Bastardise shafts to fit mk3 rear hubs.
    - Fabricate custom engine mounts and chassis brackets to accept engine. (engine mounting points based upon mk2 platform)
    - scollop front cabin lower chassis rail to clear manifold
    - make access panel beneath soft-top
    - fit engine
    - fab exhaust
    - loads of clever wiring..!

That's about the jist of it - no mean feat for sure...

It's drive by wire so you need to adapt the accelerator pedal to fit into a mk3.

Oooooh.... good point.... that's a whole different box of frogs if it is the case.... Though i'd imagine totally possible (which i say without knowing how long the 2GR's gearbox casing is...)

    Welcome along mate
You could scrap the whole plan and sell me the the 2gr at a really great price for my next mk2 swap
Best of luck with your project

keep in mind that it the parts are actually designed for the MKII. it certainly helps an MKI and MKIII install, but it isn't just a bolt-in swap at that point. you'll need to make custom body side mounts and the headers will require a bit of frame clearance.

the kit is $1580 + shipping and includes everything here minus the tiny metal bracket at the middle/top: http://www.frankensteinmotorworks.co...E/IMG_0013.jpg and a set of headers: http://www.frankensteinmotorworks.co.../090913012.jpg
