When putting the water pump back together do you use just the thin papery gasket on its own, or should I be using some silconey sealent stuff as well??

Small fonts are for midget baptisms, not signatures!
anytime i did one i just cleaned up the mating surface on the block then fitted it with supplied gasket, job done
I did the same -after cleaning surfaces i just used the gasket that came with the pump -
it wont hurt to put a small amount of instant gasket or RTV silicone on it as well though. i always put a dab of instant gasket around the sealing surfaces just to make sure
i always smear some hylomar on the gasket and glue it to the pump before fitting,that way it stops it moving around.
Hylomar is the stuff i use, Blue Hylomar. couldnt remember the name of it lol, we just call it instant gasket
