Well a B T top will weigh a lot more because of the extra strength for the roof so about 1000kg, I wouldn't worry too much about weight saving as I need more of it to try and nail the power down it's just too dam powerful over 300bhp.

When I started the How FAT is your engine thread in the mk2 section looking at pwer & torque to weight (mk2), Paul quoted me the following weights for engines -

3sge 138 kgs wet rev3 147kgs wet
1mz-fe 153kgs wet
3vz-fe 164kgs wet
2gr-fe 172kgs wet


E153 gearbox 59 kgs dry 60.5kgs wet
S54 gearbox 54 kgs dry 55.5kgs wet

3s-gte rev1/2 173 kgs wet
3s-gte rev3 178 kgs wet
3s-gte rev3 with st205 chargecooler 185kgs wet

Audi AHC 4.2 ltr 179kgs wet

not sure what is off. but my car lost 40-45kg when going from the 3s-gte to the 2gr-fe.

here it is, the only thing not stock is the 18" wheels and the 2gr at 1272kg:


of course that's an MKII but the MKI is supposed to be 290kg lighter. granted a 3s-gte is much heavier than a 4a-ge so there's more savings on the MKII than the MKI.
