Thread: Poly-bushes

    Poly-bushes

Woohoo, the full kit arrived today - so now I've got no excuse for staying out the garage!!

I've seen some info on installing these ranging from, burn the old ones out, to which direction they fit in...

So... for those who have just done this mod - have you got any time(or knuckle)-saving tips from experience???

    Cheers

Loads of help here mate, did mine not long ago. I used a mixed gas blow torch from B&Q, about £20 I think, and remove the arms from the suspension and shove them in a vice and burn the dam things out, hold the flame at each bush till they literally start to fall apart...a good few minutes at least.

New ones go in easy enough, just use plenty of the supplied grease on the washer/tube things.

A wire brush and plenty of WD40 is also a must.

Burning them out is much more fun than the alternatives:thumbsup:

    Burn baby burn.

Also worth getting a nice big wire wheel for the drill so you can paint the arms whilst they're out.

Hollar if you get stuck.

Just done mine and the blow torch route worked a treat, but then my boy walked molten rubber into the house and onto the carpet :-(

Only warning is to be careful not to overheard the ball joints if you've left them on the arms - pretty obvious stuff really.
