    rev 1 hesitation

just running my car up today general routine, and i notice there is a hesitation on revs when pulling back the throttle lightly.. i get to about 1700rpm and it misses/drops a smidge (slow down) and then starts and continues to climb rapidly with no more hesitation. it does not matter how fast i am pulling the throttle it does the same. its got a new set of bkr6e plugs but thats all ignition wise. the timing hasnt been checked since a cam belt change.
it also happens on the stanadard ecu ( ive tested two ecu's) and exactly the same, so i would imagine not an ecu related problem. not a major issue yet but something i'd like to iron out before m.o.t .
i'll do a fault code pull tommorow and see whats what.. any other pointers?

    check the flux capacitor mate..

leads/dizzy of course, anyone you can borrow some off? dont know if the tps on these can go faulty..anyone?

cap and rotor on the way can't do no harm. i'll check the tps out see if theres any evident breaks / big changes in signal / resistance when wiggling...

take the cap off and crank it over whilst watching the inside of the cap.
Shouldn't see any sparks - if you do replace. :)

^ i couldnt reach the key and see at same time, nobody about (boo).

so heres some pics of the points inside the dizzy cap. the rotor arm is about the same 'finish' condition as there:

the points didnt look to pretty to me, im no specialist on dizzy caps. what does anyone else think?..

you'll notice the stutter (listen for it) just as i pull the throttle back on this movie the 2nd and fourth time i pull.

    Sure - doesn't that mean I don't get a run in the porker though ? ;)

i think im getting closer to fixing this issue... today i ran the car up again, and took it down the track and back.. foot down on the throttle.. it climbs upto 2krpm then drops back down to around 13.. then back up.. then back down.. it was buckaroo-ing down the track... now.. i took it back to the garage and checked everything and tried again it did the same.

ive noticed just under the throttle body again since a few weeks ago there is one of my favourite things returned.. a small leak of red coolant.. its coming from the part that the coolant pipe attatches to under the throttle body.. first time around a few eeks back i tightened the clip up as it was not properly seated and puddles under car etc.. it still had dripped a few drips each time i run the car up. its only a drip mind not a gush.

im almost sure its not anything to do with the timing as when i first had the motor running it was sweet and with no bouncing.

i think its something to do with the leak.. is there an 'idle up' type valve under the throttle body like the old wax stat type on the 4age?.. i think when i fixed the other leaks before which are now pressure tight, this one was the next to give way..

now if theres an airlock there (water out im almost certainly means air has gotten in).. then would this cause my bouncy mama throttling?.. (meditates)..

click here for sound , i was holding throttle open constant:
