Thread: Rev3 ECU swap progress......

  1. #31
Presumably need the ECU as well :hidesbehi

What about turbo's and manifolds and such, can you use the old ct26 and run as is or is it better to swap out the who shebang? Also on a selfish note is it much harder to go from rev1 to rev 3 as oposed to starting with a rev2?

    Sorry for all the questions!

    Ta,

    Owen.

Agreed, when i did my swap my base timing was at 16' BTDC.
adjusted to stock 10' with no problems though.

Aww, cheers buddy, you could have saved me 8 months of hassle if you'd piped up with that before now :)
Hows the 4 going on the rev 3 setup?

Adam, i dont think theres much difference between rev 1 and 2 and your probably not using most of the stuff thats different due to it being fitted in a mk1!
You can use your CT26 but above 14psi its not all that efficient so you wont get the main benefit which is having a better turbo and running 17psi on it!
It might be a good thing to try it though as i prefer the shove in the back you get with the ct26, rather than the less obvious kick you get with the ct20.
You'll get great economy if you drive it carefully, i saw 42MPG on a carefull drive!!!

Oh, and ive got a great powerpoint presentation that Ryan (mr2lover) sent me which explains the wiring to all the pins and shows you what needs to be swapped to where!
He sent me it FOC as i fitted a remote start alarm in his mk2 yeeeaaaarsss ago so i'd hate to pass it about without his permission.
Anyone that might want it PM him and ask if I or He could forward it on, or maybe just host it for BM's only??

paul, johnny while your both here, one quick question... what advantages does a map based system offer?.. i think ive probably got all the rest with upgrades except the injectors and map.. well ive got some injectors for winter fun.. but not an ecu to control.
