i was on the phone to peebs and i could hear a ratchet clicking away in the background, now if click per second ratio is correct that ratchet was doing serious RPM by my reckoning! no wonder it got stripped that quickly!

    Fine work chaps.

Oi Peebs, where's today's update then?

Hi everyone, I'm Peebs' girlfriend! I have absolutely no idea about the intricacies of an engine swap... but it sure sounds nice when it's finished! :)

Well lodge, therin lies a story. We are obviously having to charge Fizzy for this conversion and we didn't want to try to undercut PW or overcharge at the same time. I decided to have a sneaky peek at Pauls prices. But, ahem, I fewked up!

I didn't want us to be cheaper than Paul or more expensive this way only geography matters, if you see what I mean.

But I quoted Pauls lowest price when I should have quoted for a more expensive option. So, we came to an agreement with Fizzy that we would store/strip/and ebay parts of the car for him and have them picked up from here and all money sent to him (to save him the trouble or transport or bits back home) in exchange for us to keep other parts of the car for our own time and trouble of stripping the car.

But, as we have done that bit so quickly (Stripdown), we are going to make sure that that Fizzy gets that back as much as the Camry cost him and then some.

If we do actually setup in business, we have agreed with Paul that we will be using a simmilar pricing plan to his own.

    Todays progress update

Oooh, today saw some great brutality, which I am sure you will all enjoy :)

You guys are always screamin for photos, so get ready for a surprise, coz here's a million...

We got in nice and early, only to find that the Camry Faries had visited in the night.

Well okay, not really, but here comes the brutal bit...

    Firstly this happened...

But it appears that the Camry (or the driver, perhaps :) was a little horny. Tony (FourVeeSix) is the guy on the left, laughing at the last comment on this post probly, hehe.
    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...wellCamry3.jpg

Looks like the Rover's suspension was a little unhappy about all this though...
    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...wellCamry4.jpg

    WTF! ?
    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...wellCamry5.jpg

Tony plays "tug 'o' war" with a skip wagon...
    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...wellCamry6.jpg

...and that was that - Music plays "Bye, bye, Camreey, byebye, byeee, bye"
    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...wellCamry7.jpg

After that was all done and dusted we set about ripping Fizzy's newly aquired lump to bits - opps, soz Fizz...
    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...mingApart1.jpg

    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...mingApart2.jpg

    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...mingApart3.jpg

    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...mingApart4.jpg

The timing was out by about 1.5 teeth on the rear bank, and although the cam belt was changed about 15k miles previously it had been fitted backwards - bloody spanner moneys. Also two of the cam tensioner bearings sound very rough and we have advised Fizzy to have them replaced.
    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2.../TimingOut.jpg

Here's me attacking the cam pulleys - ugly bast ain't I ? hehe
    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...6/MeEngine.jpg

Good job Fizzy had us change the head gaskets, because of this...
    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...asketSplit.jpg

...and this. Looks like the gasket has been battered by the valves on two cylinders - must have been incorrectly fitted and overhanging the bores.
    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...etBattered.jpg

While Tony got busy doing this sort of thing...
    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2..._2006/Cams.jpg
btw, forgot to get pics of it, but the camshaft bearings and seats are in absolutely tip top nick, looks brand new, amazing stuff from toyota for an engine of this milage.

    I got busy with this...
    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...2006/Acis1.jpg

    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...enumFilthy.jpg

This bit just had to go too...
    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...6/NastyEGR.jpg

And after a little bit of this...
    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...MeCleaning.jpg

...and a bit of ally blanking fabrication (sorry no pics) ... you get this...
    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...PaintReady.jpg

    ...and this...
    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...enumClean1.jpg

    ...and even this...
    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...enumClean2.jpg

Tony got to this stage after much elbow grease - (sorry for no in betweeny pics)
    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2.../HeadsOff1.jpg

    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2.../HeadsOff2.jpg

..and managed to clean this also - came up nice we think.
    http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...2006/Cover.jpg

So, all in all, another good days progress, but we do fear we may get held up a little by some of the parts we require having to be ordered from the states. Of course this being out first conversion for someone else and being a little disorganised this time (as we took on this job at short notice) this should not be the case in future swaps (if we get any :)

However, Fizzy is bringing his beloved MR2 to us tomorrow and so we will at least have something to be carrying on with for the moment, as there are a few other things that need doing to the car that we can be getting on with.

Rest assured Fizz, that your V6 was covered over for the night and at all times when any dust creating work was being performed, also your car will be covered with a dust sheet at all times when we are not working on it.

    Cheers peeps

    Catcha later.
