to be honest i had everything set up ready to go,windy gun sat with all the right sockets/extensions....exhaust came off really easily this time as did driveshafts,i already had a jacking beam under the car ready and everything just went like clockwork, not a single bolt was hard to remove.
I think it may be possible to do it a little quicker but not much.
back on topic! the clip gets its engine removed early next week and the engine bay gutted, mounts removed....you know the routine by now.
right twas time to make an ernest start...so today everything went well.
chopped off the engine mounts, you know the drill....lots of windy chisel action and an hour or so later both sides were as clean as a nuns chuff :)
The rear wall section also came out...
And next the fuel tank was dropped, turbo pump installed and tank refitted.
After that i fitted a new heatshield to the front wall....
And found time to mount the jig and tack weld in the engine mounts...
Tomorrow sees them seam welded, seam sealered and the rear boot panel fabricated and seam sealed, might even have time to paint it as well.
The engine also gets a new clutch and timing belt tomorrow so the engine/box should be in the bay by the end of the week all being well.
ah, the first silver 1.5, looks like the inside of tin man!. standard set up for this one?

Adam think welly might disagree with you on the first silver MK1.5 ! that aside its all looking good !
made quite good progress today, gearbox off and new clutch fitted....
just as well really the old one was totally burnt out!
next came the cam belt, the old one was on its last legs too....heres the belt just removed...
So with it freshly belted and clutched i detailed the engine ready for fitting, cam cover got a basecoat silver and several coats of clearcoat laquer...
lovely jubbly! ,once the engine bays ready then this is ready to go in.
Oooh! This is the best bit, when it all starts to like nice and clean and shiney and ready to go go GOOOOO!
