Thread: St202 Brake Conversion

  1. #21
    I found there are some Toyota discs that are listed as having 54mm centre holes (same as the AW11), but in fact had 55mm holes! The Carina one REALLY annoyed me as it's the perfect dimensions, 275mm, and 4x100! But....55mm centre.

    Here's what my supplier's specs say about the Celicas (some are 55mm, some are 54mm!):

    ST162 = 54mm
    ST165 = 54mm
    ST182 = 54mm
    ST185 = 54mm
    ST202 = 55mm
    ST205 = 55mm

    So it looks like "ST1...." = ok for AW11, "ST2..." = hole's too big.

    Superb Info Dude - Thanks

    Dunno where Rob is gonna go from here - the bitch has been ignoring my texts so we'll see what happens - Already drilled one of the discs so gonna have to use the ST202 discs - machining them shouldn't be too costly!!?? Anyone have any rough guesses how much???

    Making a "Custom" Exhaust too so watch this space - Don't worry Paul - its S/S tubing be'll use so it would let down your conversion atall!! The only thing i'm worried bout is Rob wants it Loud - the Way its looking it Might just be a Straight thru Pipe!!! hahaha

    Splendid information Keri, thanks. Sorry about the :woods: response on my suggestion of ST185 disks on another thread, really thought there'd be a few takers. To add insult to injury I've bagged a set of black diamond grooved fronts for ?50 so I don't need any either. Sorry. I'm sure the offer won't go to waste though.

    Cheers and good luck,

    Owen.

    l o l, don't worry about it! By the way, I "redrill" the 5 stud discs by simply adding three more holes, and re-using one of the "celica" holes! Neater and easier than trying to squeeze another four in....

    That info MIGHT be wrong, but the fact they differentiate between the 54 and 55 mm discs is a pretty good sign it'll be correct.

    you could revert to the st185 disc i think and sell your discs to a 205 swapper? no work needed for the centre bore and there will only be a 20mm difference in the disc size. i think that is right? i am sure someone will say if it is,nt:hmm:

    Gonna speak to a machine shop on Monday to find out Prices to get discs dia reduced and hub dia increased!

    If you can find out from Adam how much it is for the 4mm spacers we're well on our way to your upgraded brakes completion!!!

    :)

    185 single pot discs are ~2-3mm bigger (277 compared to 275), so the problem with the st202 carrier will remain, but they'll fit the hub with only the 3 extra holes to be drilled.

    OK - Let me get this straight - the discs that Rob have the now are 277mm dia ST202 discs yes with 55mm flange!??

    SO: by fitting the ST185's i can have an exact fit to the Mk1 Hub!??? - ok i'll still need to get disc dia reduced but only one job is better than two!!!

    SO if that is correct Rob - need to order set of them and get them to machine shop asap!!! :)

    Actually I believe that with the ST185 disks the bore AND the diameter are OK, the only job is to convert the 5 stud to 4, which can be a DIY job

    Cheers,
