well it certainly looks like thats your problem jb,wrong tulip in the diff...that must mean its a non lsd box,but who knows! its all up in the air now, nothing seems to make sense re the bar in the diff etc...ive got a box here that looks like yours in the diff, wheels rotate same direction when the box was on the car,but off the car and off engine they rotate opposite...although its def a rev3 lsd box...its mad!

Your tulip is too long for that diff basically, the correct tulip will sort it.

If anyone has any ideas on how to guarantee identification of these diffs id love to know. The best way to make sure its going to work is to get the shafts and gearbox from the same car.

JB what is your desired dimension for the clip to the end of shaft?

Fingers crossed looks like problem solved. Ground 1/8" off end of shaft, pops in lovely now and seems to have stopped losing oil. Thanks to Randomfactor for finding another shaft in case I needed it.

I picked up a box today apparantly out of a gen3 turbo car- and apparantly LSD however it acts and looks just like a gen1 open diff'd unit :-(.

Though i know its probably just crap- it'd be cool if it too is strange like pauls box *hopes* haha.

How easy is it to open these things up to look at the diff / count syncros?

oh... could a moderator pleaes change my username hahahaha.

Was teasing a mate ( how immature! haha) and forgot about it before posting.

You could change it to something cool like.hmmmn, ABCDE or something easy to remember.

    thanks.

    ALSO.

Paul- can you peer down the speedo hole and see the colour of the gear? Apparantly white is standard and green/blue is LSD- though dont know how correct this is.
